z3r0x Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 (edited) This mod will give you MagmaTroopers and SwampTroopers as Barracks units in conqest mode. Magma and Swamp troopers are tougher and better shots. They are also more expensive and take more time to build. Get it here!http://hack-radio.net/eaw/troops.zip Screens http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/6580/magmainfo4tn.jpg http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/9749/swampinfo2vz.jpg http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/7425/troops6ek.jpg Edited March 13, 2006 by Cain
Elukka Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Nice. Would be insanely cool if they could be made more effective in their respective climates.
z3r0x Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 Yes.. thats true.. but the snow troopers are not more effective on on snow worlds... I may release a script that will not allow them on any world.. only volcanic or forest/swamp... thats not hard to do.
Mikan Cyclone Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 THe first ever reskin released as a mod. You must be proud. You just made history! http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar1.jpghttp://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i276/At-At_controller/leetspeak4cz1jr.gif
DragonShadow Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Nice mod, z3r0x! http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
Stellar_Magic Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Is it just me or are the swamptroopers a little on the bright side? Oh well, I'm working on my own modification that includes some skins, maybe I'll add swamptroopers down the line, I've already got Imperial Army and Stormtroopers. Before I start implementing all that I'm thinking about changing the size and pop point cost of the formations as well as revamping the projectile system, and adding hardpoints to the ground vehicles. They'll be a bit bigger. (60 man Stormtrooper Companies, 20 Vehicle Companies, and 6 Vehicle Gun Batteries) I'll also be implimenting command modifiers (Simple as hell... Negative Population Values to let you bring in bigger fleets and ground companies.) and atmospheric capable Victory and Acclamator Class as well as ground based starfighter squadrons. As for the swamptroopers, they should be more of a yellowish swampy green. I'll probably do that, aside from that I still love this...the Empire lacks trooper variation (I was particularly surprised when I found out there weren't any missile troopers). http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
Mikan Cyclone Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 The Empire's might came through its leet vehicles. They just used infantry as fodder. And I just had a very awesome idea. You know how they have model variations for snow and stuff in the groundinfantry.xml? Use this for it. Also, Swamptroopers should be like camoflauge without browns. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar1.jpghttp://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i276/At-At_controller/leetspeak4cz1jr.gif
z3r0x Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 Hmmm I based the color from the pics from JK Outcast 2. They were a forest green... color. Which is what I tried to make it.. However the one thing that brightens it is.. the gloss. The armor is glossy... to it reflects light. That makes it appear brighter....
DragonShadow Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Really? Hmm, I don't know, they still look too green to me. I'll have to double check JK2 when I get home. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg

z3r0x Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 lol Hmm.. I dont think he was being sarcastic. I think Mikan was being nice... Since Mikan,Dragon and myself were brainstorming over this. GG!
Mikan Cyclone Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I wasn't being sarcastic. He really did make history here. It's the first published reskin! http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar1.jpghttp://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i276/At-At_controller/leetspeak4cz1jr.gif
z3r0x Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 Well thank you Mikan... I got some Kick butt ideas.. that you should hear.
Tulon Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Wow, this is cool. Would you mind adding the Imperial Guard, too? I'm talking about the "Coruscant Guard", not the Royal Guard guys. I just don't like the "Coruscant", since they are also deployed on other urbanized worlds besides Imperial Center. I guess they'd look pretty much like your Magma Troopers (just check my avatar), aside from their name and the description, but maybe it's possible to add some special weapons. Scriptwise it would be great to not make them buildable, but rather let them spawn in the barracks of some urbanized planets (like Corulag, for example) - though I do not know if this is possible. Another thing that would be nice to have are the black-armored special ops troopers from Imperial Intelligence. If I remember correctly they were nicknamed Blackhole Troopers, in reference to the codename of the Intel guy they were working for. By the way - as for your Swamp Troopers ... is it somehow possible to remove that glossy effect from the armor? I'm sure it would look more like a camouflage, then.
Kampher Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 In many things I've read about swamptroopers (As well as Star Wars Galaxies) they actually use a variant of Swamp Trooper armor. Perhaps if anyone else were to do swamp troopers, they could re-skin the Scout trooper model into a dark green color? http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/3958/kamphersig4si.jpg http://steiner-modding.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=3 Total Realism Mod Manager
DragonShadow Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I wasn't being sarcastic. He really did make history here. It's the first published reskin! Yeah. This is a big deal, considering that until now it was impossible. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
z3r0x Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 Ill do that tonight... the glossy effect cannot be removed... However I may be able to make it flat.. so as not to shine.. I will give it a whirl.

I'm afraid I'll have to retract some of this statement, it seems that having 20+ Vehicle Compnaies causes an exception to occur with alarming frequency. I'll go back to platoon size formations for now. I will give it a whirl. Actually, I think it can. Just hex edit the swamptrooper model and remove the reference for the EI_TROOPER_GLOSS.tga and it should no longer be glossy. Haven't tried it yet though, and it may or may not work, so save your original. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
Tulon Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 [...] they could re-skin the Scout trooper model into a dark green color? That's a nice idea! The Scout Troopers look more like Swamp Troopers than Stormtroopers do, imho. Also, this would further increase the 'unique visuals' of the units - rather than having 487623 dífferent-colored Stormtrooper units. Although I still have the Guards and Blackhole Troopers on my wishlist.
z3r0x Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 Well until someone the SDK comes out... the Coruscant guards is out... as that would need a new model maybe.. or a complete new texture... Although Im sure someone will come out with something..
Tulon Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I'd be satisfied with standard stormtrooper armor, too. Maybe you can give us a description on how you did it, then I'd try it myself. I just don't have the time finding it out on my own yet (though I definitely want to try a little modding - at the latest when Petro releases their editors).
z3r0x Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 Well my Magma Troops look a tad bit like the Coruscant guards.. Try it out.
Tulon Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Hmm, yes. I'd just want to have them with the fitting name and description. Though maybe I could do that on my own.I'll give it a try.
