Idea for conquering planets...

I had an idea that I'd like to try and incorporate into a mod I'm working on. Would it be possible to have the indigenous residents of a planet resist you? I know you can normally, but I mean when you go to a planet and it's not owned by one of the three factions, you fight the indigenous people in order to take control instead of simply automatically getting it...

I know it's possible...I just don't know how to do it....That would be an awesome thing to have, though.

I just had an idea. What if we made an unplayable "Indigenous" faction (or something like that) that possesses all unconquered planets. Obviously it would have no galactic AI, and only basic combat AI (since they're mostly civilians), and no unit construction abilities. It could work.

 

The only reason I care is because in my mod I'm making an evil faction and the natives would definitely resist them before handing over the planet.

Most factions WOULD resist if your taking over their planet.  It is theirs, after all.

We're both Imp players, so people are very likely to hate us taking over their planet.  Then they start fighting and..oh gosh the Blood! the BLOOD! EVERYWHERE! *sobs*

Trust me, NO ONE welcomes Sith. My mod involves a rebellion of Dark Jedi against the Empire, following a self-proclaimed Sith Lord. Since these Sith actually announce themselves, they're feared even above the Empire (very few know the Emperor is a Sith). I'm trying to be able to have you able to fight against the Empire, the Rebels, the Pirates, and the Indigenous factions in one campaign...

 

EDIT: Oops, forgot. Also, I'm having the story set so the Emperor makes the public believe it to be an invasion, not a rebellion, so he encourages all systems to fight against these so-called "Sith" and gain the friendship and protection of the Empire. Yet another reason why indigenous groups would fight you.

That sounds awesome!  It's a good thing that you posted that the people didn't know palpatine was a sith; even though he weilded the force, people still thought that all the Sith lords on the emperor's side were simply Jedi who had followed Palpatine instead of the Jedi ways.

Actually, almost no one knew he could use the force, either. Only his personal aides, the Moff Council, and other special cases like Vader and the Emperor's Hands knew he was a Sith Lord. I think everyone else figured he just wore those robes to hide his disfigurement from the attempted "assassination by the Jedi".

Though the Prophet/Intel-controlled "Church of the Dark Side", that rose to an official religion within the Imperial Remnant after the Emperor's Death was quite popular. Seems like a lot of people in the galaxy don't care if you follow the Dark Side or not, as long as you leave them alone or - even better - strengthen their morale.

 

By the way, don't mix up Dark Jedi and Sith. I know of only four Sith that were known around during the Galactic Civil War (Palpatine, Vader, Shira Brie/Lumiya and Seth).

However, you might want to take a look at a hidden planet called Thule. A whole world controlled by the old KotOR-era Sith-Empire military forces during the Galactic Civil War, as if time has frozen there. Might be interesting for your mod.
