DragonShadow Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Okay, I did a little test. I found a LUA editor that actually works, and guess what? It can't open EAW lua files. It works on any other lua file, but none of the ones from EaW. I'm not sure what that means. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
Mikan Cyclone Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Here's an interesting analogy: lets compare the Eaw files and that lua editor, to the Jedi and Yuuzhan Vong. [spoilerIFIC, BABY!]The Jedi could not sense the Yuuzhan Vong in the Force, so therefore they assumed that they were completely devoid of the Force what so ever. This ,however, is impossible, because there cannot be life without it. The Yuuzhan Vong simply operate on a different wavelength of the Force, one the Jedi's senses cannot pick-up (kinda like how dogs hear better than humans). the Lua editor your using is like the Jedi. The Eaw files are one of a kind, and therefore non-existant to the non-updated LUA editor. so there is a similarity between the Lua files and the Yuuzhan Vong. I'm done. BTW, what editor are you using? http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar1.jpghttp://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i276/At-At_controller/leetspeak4cz1jr.gif
DragonShadow Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 LuaEdit...I figured it probably wasn't new enough or something, so I got all the latest lua code stuff too, and it still doesn't work...wah, waiting for mod tools again... :-\ http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
razielad Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 [Twisted angry spoilerrifiC!~] Nice work MC, but you forgot the part about the Eaw files pwning your LUA editor with logic defying all-organic technology.
Foshjedi2004 Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 You can't open the Lua Scripts as they are in their compiled form. You'll need to decompile them before you can edit them. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Maian Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Besides being in their compiled form, that compiled form differs uses a slightly different format than that of official Lua 5.02 compiled scripts. I've been investigating the differences in hopes of making a decompiler, but it'll take a while. What I can tell is that it is based off Lua 5.0x, so I'm using that as a starting point...
DragonShadow Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 What about 5.03? That's where all my extra files come from. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
Maian Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 There's a Lua 5.03? I know there's a Lua 5.02 release 2 version and 5.1 beta. The only bytecodes I've looked at are those of 4.01, 5.02r2, and 5.1b1, and it definitely looks like it's a variant of 5.02r2. Also, I should mention that I don't know how to program in Lua - I can understand Lua code but have never made a Lua program. I just examined the Lua source (which is in C) and the format of compiled Lua scripts.
