Do you possess any planets required to build it, do you have a high enough star base, are you at a high enough tech level. Stuff like that. If you're not careful your entire model will turn your team's color in Skirmish mode... You can still see the skin, it just has a slight "Tint". So far I've only tested in GC (I use Alderaan's demise, it's perfect for quick insta-testing...).
