OK cap is 10 or less on land and 25 in space.

No problem with land !  Usually your best unit is first and u bring more unit at start of the engagment... if u have more than 10 u can choose wath u need.

In space if u are on defense with for exemple 6 calamari, 8 corvette, 4 nebulon, 4 frigate 10 xwing, 8 ywing....

the computer don t let u choose what u will start with !!!!!  i have try to put my best 25 cap mix in fleet number 1 and rest in fleet 2 and 3 but the computer choose for me what i bring and sometime it s not great !!!  In one battle he choose to make me bring 2 space officer !!!  it s seem to be random with a little bit of everything !

when u go at offensive it s the same thing !!!!  u cannot build ur army !!!!  u have to suicide some units to get others !!!

For now i just use Fleet with the exact cap. I never go with more than 25 on a same attack or planet defense.

Any idea ???

It just someting you have to plan for.  There is no problem, it just you have to use strategy when making your fleets over boarder planets with the enemy.

You get to choose in land battles because your forces have to spawn in reinforcement spots instead of anywhere on the map like space battles.  Just one of the reason I think.

"Kane Lives in Death!"

Person B: Wheres the Emperor, anyway?

Person A: The Emperor is currently at Nal Hutta.

Person B: I don't think he'd be at Nal Hutta it has a swamp.

Person A: Whats wrong with a swamp?

Person B: Well its the Emperor, he would never touch a swamp as hes well the Emperor.

Person A: Your right...

Person B: Instead he'd make a super weapon to destroy the swamp, it'd probably be called the Plunginator!!!!

Person A: Huh?

Person B: Lol....

It does suck that you cant choose what units you hyper in to start with in space.

Indeed it does

this is the single worst design choice in all of EAW

why can't we just have it like the land battles, your strongest unit goes in, then you bring in what you want.

1 ISD hypers in

battle begins

choose the ships you want

presto!  your choices about what units to bring and what units to use will have an affect on the outcome.  sounds like strategy to me!  :)

i can't even comprehend why this wasn't done in the first place since its in the land battles  ??? very very odd...

Because it would be to easy to exploit.  You send a group of fighters or recon it with Tie Scouts,  Send in your fleet from the side or from behind.  Also if you build turrets, they get left behind if they are not destroyed, and the invader has the ability to reinforce there.  I bet they have their reason why and also that they tested different option.

Space combat is a lot different from land combat.

If it sends your strongest ship, that probably wont be a TIE scout. Yeah though, this would be easily exploitable and would eliminate the "choke point" factor to some maps, I.E. Bespin (huge nebula as the attacker comes in, you could just bypass this altogether).

Simple, just increase the amount of time units are vurnerable Hypering in and make them take alot extra damage. You wouldnt quite be hypering into battle then.

Yes there is a mod for the cap.

Even with a mod my solution is to:

-Never have useless units (headhunters, etc) in a fleet.  Use them as scouts, sell them, or use them to patrol/scare off random fleets.

-Keep my fleets under the pop max until I see my opponent massing (The AI doesn't).  An unbalanced fleet where you have 5 reinforcement points is worse than a balanced fleet with no reinforcements.  However, an unbalanced fleet with 30 reinforcement points is better than a balanced fleet (albeit less efficient).

-Keep my fleets simple and proportional (just tartans and VSDs or just Ys, CCs, and a few Nebs).

Why space unit selection is different than ground I'll never know.  I'd rather have a Neb than 3 Xwings, but I get the 3 Xwings :P

This is a little off topic, I'm using a mod that Removes the cap and Ive run into problems. As u guys know the AI spams missile cruisers and since there is no cap i keep facing 20 plus missile cruisers accompanied by the accuser witch i destroyed about a 100 times, but it keeps spawning. How should i counter, fighters don't stand any chance at all! And i always have huge losses when facing this even with a better fleet then them any suggestions?

if you want to avoid the enemy building those ships, why not increasing the price to absurd high prices? that way the ai cant afford it.

problem solved?

No. It would just create more problems. The game would be way too easy. I'd rather have a challenge.

I think that on the loading map you should just select what units you want to hyperspace in the battle. Once your done, the battle starts and those ships hyperspace in. This way you can't bypass stuff on the map, but you still get to pick your ships.
