Found the factons.xml folder(for pop cap), now how do I edit it?

Recommended Posts

I have found the factons.XML folder so I can edit my population cap, but my computer won't let me edit or delete anything. Do I have to have a certain tool to edit it? Please tell me where to find the tool if it is needed. Thanks. Edited by Cain

I found an XML editor. It's here on this frorum under Empire at War editing > EAW Mods General Workshop > and the topics name. I am not exactly sure what it's name is, but it could be anywhere from page 1 to 6. When I got the XML editor it was on page 3 or 4.

I use one of the XML Editors provided here...its called "Context", but I forgot the link...its in General Workshop, somewhere..

You have to download a MEG extractor. I got mine form the tools and tutorials secton on page 1 of Mods General Workshop. If you have the full version of the game make sure the extractor is for the full version of the game. I got mine from a guy named Daveno (I would reccommend getting it from him, the directions I will give are for his extractor). After you have downloaded and installed, open the extractor and click on the config.meg. Scroll down about half way, and the look for the name factions.xml. NOT factionfiles.xml. You can edit it with notepad and word pad from what I have heard, but I got an XML editor from a guy named Spartan (a moderator) and it works really good.

NOTE: You need the .NET 2.0 download from Microsoft to make the MEG extractor work. There are many links on this forum to get to it if you don't already have it.
