  1. 1. I have a monster rig, and the game ins't performaning well so far... is yours?

    • It performs perfectly with all setting maxed
      11
    • With a few options I don't need it works great.
      15
    • Turn downs etting by half and now it's OK.

    • I have monster rig. Almost all settings maxed - runs crappy.
      4
    • It runs decent fraps numbers, but there's a notieceble issue with jerky animation

I have a really high-end gaming rig:

ATI X190XTX, Asus A8R-MVP, AMD FX-53, 2 Gig RAM.

The game is running "chunky"  fps in the 80's coupled with dips into thr 10's.  Anyone else experience this?  If so did you fix it?  How did you fix it?

I am running:

P4 Dual Core 3.00 Ghz

2 Gigs Ram

256 gForce 6800

And there are times when it skips along and times when it just slows down. I find the galactic map is always kind of choppy, as well as the ground battles.

There have been times after playing for a while that the PC will just bog down and it's almost not even playable.

I can play other 3D games with almost no lag, so I have no idea what the deal is with this game.

I feel that the land battle is not fully optimisied and there maybe a memory leak, hopefully they are testing out possible soloutions and will be ready when the next patch comes out.

Also just to say i have fiddled with all graphic options in game and for my video card (ati x800xl) and there is very little difference in the speed/fps of the game, also the in game speed slider i find the differnce from slowest to fastest barely noticable.

well, as far as i know.. THE AI IS CAUSING THE LAG.. They move their units everywhere anyhow anywhere and on every second..

you will see what i mean if u control bothawui and most planets aren't yours.. thats why galactic map lags sometimes..

as for when u control most planets and lags i don't understand it..

land battle lag is caused by environmental issues on the planet i think

I haven't had much lag in land battles.  Only seems if I have a few background programs running will it start to drag.  I've got a P4, 2.4gHz processor with a Radeon 9800, and graphics turned up above the Auto-Detect settings, so I'd have to say I've been more than satisfied by its performance.

My Galactic Map never lags... But my ground battles can get pretty bad I have tracked the problem down to a combination of a memory leak and air units.  The memory leak is the real killer here because if you play for a couple hours straight you get a real bog down in performance, but a simple game restart after clearing out the ram will fix the problem.

people i jsut need some1 with decen computer knowledge to tell me what computer system would work best with this game, with having all the setting jacked up. i want to see the glittering lights of the mon cal ships and ahve zero to little lag. i mean i would like specs, not just the system

I think my problem is my cpu.  My cpu FX-53 is fast but it's an older generation of cpu (I've had it 2 years).  So I'm going to sugges the following:

* AMD FX-55 0r %X-57 (newer core), or AMD X2 4600+ or better.

* ATI Radeon X1900XT (ATI just lowered prices so you can get this for a decent price now).

* 2 Gig of RAM.  (400 MHz) matched set so you can run them in dual channel mode.

* Motherboard - tough decision.  I'm not happy with my current mobo (Asus A8R-MVP), but maybe their newest one has fixed some of the issues this board has (A8R32-MVP).  Otherwise maybe an MSI NForce4 board.

* Creative Labs X-Fi Xtrememusic (sound is really excellent).

* You need a really good PSU for this setup.  I'd suggest the Fortron FX600 GLN.  It's got 600watts, plenty of amps on 4 12v rails, and is certified by both NVidia and ATI.  Best of all it's 85% efficient so it will save you a good bit on your electricity bill.

Galactic Map: runs ok, major slow down sometimes for no apparent reason

Land Maps: Severe slow down, the freakin low poly count on infantry should not be doing this

Space Maps: No problems, 5 ISDs 10 VSD 20 tartans and all the ties that you get from that, plus the rebel forces (all in game at the same time, thank you XML) and i had no slow down, ran superbly  ;D

My Specs: P4e 2.8Ghz @ 3.1Ghz

2Gb RAM

GeForce 6600GT 128mb @ 525/945

My conclusion: the land and galactic maps just didn't get the same attention as the premier part of the game did and need some fine tuning.  The galactic map i can deal with, but i need all the performance possible in land maps, there is a battle going on after all ;) ;D

I find turning the shader down helps the land battles, but i here ya the land battles can lag.

When a sandstorm/snowstorm/rain kicks in it can turn into lag central though the effects are nice, a wee option to turn them off would have been good.

I think there's been official notice on the memory leak. I believe that it's supposed to be fixed in the next patch from Petro...not 100% sure on that, correct me if I'm wrong.
