MY ONLINE LIFE HAS MEANING!

If Bioware makes this like a KOTOR online, then this will be one of the best games EVER.

EXACTLY!!

Having Sith and Jedi in that era would actually MAKE SENSE!!!! KOTOR is still to this day, the best game I have ever played and this news excites me. This might be the final push to get me into MMORPGs.

KOTOR didn't win over 60 Game of the Year awards for nothing! I trust Bioware 100%.

I just hope it's all true....

I hope it's true too.  SWG has been shunned from all canon, with only a few exceptions:

N-K Necrosis

Anything PERTAINING to Necrosis

That Dantooine spin-off novel thingy.

This would make a lot of sense. I truly hope that Bioware takes the reigns, because they are a Developer that truly cares for it's work. From what I can tell, a lot of those guys personally value quality over Quantity. How that will work in the MMo world, one could only guess.

I highly doubt LA would ever make a free MMORPG. Only way this would happen is if the rest of the market went this way and that wont happen any time soon with the sucess of WOW.

Anyway SOE is deny this and deleting threads. Bioware has supposedly said something that kind of sounds like denying it, but is more than likely saying "wait for the official press release". Can't seem to find a source for it tho.

Something else interesting that was released not to long ago:

BioWare Corp. Announces New ''BioWare Austin'' Studio New Studio Recruiting for Massively Multiplayer Online RPG Project

EDMONTON, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 13, 2006--Canadian videogame developer BioWare Corp. has announced the opening of a new studio, BioWare Austin, based in Austin, Texas. It is the second of BioWare's studios and the first to be located outside of Canada.

BioWare Austin has already begun work on a Massively Multiplayer Online roleplaying game (MMORPG) title; the new game will mark BioWare's debut in the Massively Multiplayer Online space. BioWare has recruited some of the top talent in MMO and RPG development, both to manage the development efforts at BioWare Austin and to collaborate with the experienced team at BioWare Edmonton, to develop a game that combines the best of BioWare's great past games with a compelling persistent online experience. Joining the Austin team as lead designer is James Ohlen, BioWare's Creative Director, whose previous credits include lead or co-lead design roles on Star Wars®: Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II. Also leading the BWA team are MMO veterans Richard Vogel and Gordon Walton.Richard Vogel brings 15 years of experience to BioWare Austin, previously serving as VP of Product Development for Sony Online Entertainment's Austin studio, as well as launching Ultima Online as a senior producer at Origin. Gordon Walton recently served as VP, studio manager and executive producer at Sony Online Entertainment as well as VP and Executive Producer at Electronic Arts.

"BioWare is committed to a seamless collaboration between our two studios to ensure the same high standards of quality and creativity our dedicated teams have always delivered," said Ray Muzyka, co-founder and Joint CEO of BioWare. "With our extensive heritage in the roleplaying genre, BioWare Austin is extremely well positioned to innovate in the massively multiplayer online space for BioWare's valued community of fans."

The new BioWare Austin comes soon after the formation of BioWare/Pandemic Studios, a partnership facilitated by private equity firm Elevation Partners. The new entity combines top videogame developers BioWare Corp., an industry leader in the role-playing game genre, and Pandemic Studios, an award-winning developer of best-selling action titles.

Both BioWare Austin and BioWare Edmonton currently have job openings for programmers, designers, artists, animators, world builders and writers, with new jobs being posted regularly. Applicants may view job postings and submit materials through jobs.bioware.com. BioWare Austin will also be recruiting, along with BioWare Edmonton and sister studios Pandemic Studios LA and Pandemic Australia, at the Game Developers Conference at the San Jose Convention Centre in San Jose, California, March 20-24, 2006.

Hmm and taking some of the main people for SOE? interesting, very interesting.

I said something similar to this on the Lucasarts forum in the EAW section  ;D Why hold on to a crappy game when you can make a new and better one which would get you better loot for lucasart  ;D What happened to brains in the business world ?

edit: Here are the before and after pictures of SWG and how screwed up it became.

Before:

I hate SOE.  I played SWG for a while, around a year-ish.  I always thought it was a ton of fun, especially if you had a group of friends ot hang around and RP with that played the game also.  As soon as the NGE came, i ditched the gane after one day of playing it (even though i had a month left on the subscription).  The Dev's all say combat wasn't exciting enough, it wasn't 'star warsy' and 'fast paced'.  I tihnk it was great.

BTW, they also said they no longer want Galaxies to be a World (universe) simulator and they're taking away more stuff.  One of them talked about the possibility of getting rid of mayors and player made cities. I think that would be the final push to send SWG to the bottom, and make alot of people quit.
