STICKY THIS:USE NAT

Recommended Posts

Okay well a litle more explanation on it would probably help most people that keep fsking up games. If you have a router, turn off you windows firewall. Also if you have a software firewall make an exception for EaW. After that is done log into your router, typically 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 else go to start, run, cmd then type ipconfig /all and your default gateway is your router. Anyways login and go to your port forwarding, should be in advanced or under applications and games section, really depedons on the router you have. Then pick a port that isnt being used by anything else, so like anything from 2000 on up should be fine. Then enter in the last octet of your lan IP address; should be anywhere from .2 -254 (example. 192.168.1.101)

Then go into your game and turn everything off under network settings except for use NAT and enter in the port that you used for your router. Dont use the default port that EAW uses, as we dont know what that is nor does it matter, your just using a differnt port.

The game is coming back with an error about NAT connections because your local network or the other players local network is not resovling its local IP through your router and out your cable/dsl IP. What your router is doing is forwarding and all incoming traffic for EAW through that port that you setup so that you can play. with another person.

Thats a quick explanation, if you have more questions, do a google first, and if you still cant figure it out then post. Please people dont host or join a game if you cant get this setup.
