Mistrider Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Hi, I'm trying to mod a few things, into my game, but I'm not sure how to get them working. Where do I find the buildable structures for each faction(ion cannons, barrack, factories, etc.) I want to modify their build times and garrison amounts. Also, how do I change the damage a single shot from each unit does? I've tried changing the damage value in the .xml files but it doesn't seem to have an effect. Thanks in advance for the help. And when he reaches Heaven,To St. Peter he will tell,"Just another soldier reporting Sir,I've served my time in Hell."

Still can't see a difference when I change the value of the damage tags. And when he reaches Heaven,To St. Peter he will tell,"Just another soldier reporting Sir,I've served my time in Hell."
akulapanam Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Damage DOES NOT CONTROL how much damage each shot does. Particle Damage in the hardpoint and particles files do when factored against the damage in the gameconstants.xml file.

akulapanam Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Its totally based on the power of the weapons, the reason that is still in the game is that it is used by the AI as a factor. There is a note to that extent in one of the unit xml files, as soon as I find it I will post it. If you don't believe me try setting damage to 1 on the ISD and watch its power remain unchanged. Then change the Particle damage to around 2000 and watch as ships are destroyed with one or two shots.
Mistrider Posted February 20, 2006 Author Posted February 20, 2006 not done thoroughly testing, but I think I found the damage stats(modified the infiltrator stats against armor types in the gameconstants file. But for some reason I can't get the game to utilize the spaceunitsfighters.xml file. I've gotten every single unit in the game except fighters to have a different build time(0 for testing purposes) but the fighters just won't take. also, X-Wings don't have a tag in their XML. And when he reaches Heaven,To St. Peter he will tell,"Just another soldier reporting Sir,I've served my time in Hell."

Zarkis Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 For fighters you have to change build values in squadron.xml, because you build squadrons, not individual fighters.
