They talk about AI and bot pathing, while all of those things were perfectly fine in the demo. This review does shake my faith in this usually reliable magazine a little, but I can't help but wonder if these things will turn out to be true. Either way, Empire at War will prove to be an enjoyable experience and it will certainly be on my favorite game list for years to come.

(Admins, if you feel the need to combine this post with the other please do so. I just felt like this needed to be seen in direct view.)

tough the hardcore rts crowd wont spend much time here before switching back to more polished titles... le me geuss like battle for middle earth2? WTF it is not because they gfx are from less quality that this game isnt good! i am not a hardcore starwars fan, i havent even seen the movie before anakiin turns into darth vader!!

I think this is a rts that has alot to offer!

Maybe they are right, they have played the game, and as many of us have said, the game is made for the casual gamer and there is quite a few things we felt should have been in have been left out.

I am getting the game for the star wars experience and not the RTS experience.

5 paragraphs? That's a sad review.

Yeah it is a small review, I would prefer a few pages  :D And it is a disappointing review, I would think EaW would score better than that!

It is the first of what will sure to be many reviews.  Like you I hope they got it wrong, however, I won't have enough blind faith to look past several reviews who score it in the 8's and scream that there is some kind of vast EA conspiracy.  ;D  Time will tell, and as always, the gamer who buys it will have the final say.

Nice small review, i was hoping the game would get a 8.5 or higher.

I hate those long ass reviews that are 5 pages long where i have to skip to the last damn page to see if the game is really good or not.

I agree with them on the pathfinding issues. Whenever I ordered artillery towards the back of my attack group in the demo, one would always veer towards the base into enemy fire. I do agree that the review could have been more in-depth; you'd think it would be at least two pages.  ::)

like i said in another thread, i wanna bet that bfme2 will get much more attention

That's not what the poll said! ;D We kicked BFME2's smoking carcass!

I also noticed that they didn't seem to cover any of the multiplayer aspect at all. I find this very disturbing. Maybe they reviewed the gamma version they received by accident...

i meant for a review or so, its true eaw kick (censored) against bfme but still... the one with the most cash...

Yes thats why the same magazine gave Madden for the 360 a 7.8  ::)  I guess EA missed a payment on that one, or maybe they just pay off reviewers to rate other games low.  I have my problems with EA for squashing compition and creativity but I blame the gamers who buy bad games thus reinforcing the notion that brain dead gameplay and flashy graphics are what the public craves.  However for all we know BFME may do more to reinvent *or streamline* the wheel than EAW, afterall many of us are buying EAW for the Star Wars experience not the pure RTS one.

I am really looking forward to the multiplayer stuff.  I find it odd they didn't state anything about that.  Nor much about features that cannot be unlocked with the demo.

I did notice the extremely poor AI and extremely poor pathfinding (in particular my artillery seemed to have difficulties standing still).  Though really doesn't justify that score since that's not a structure problem, and therefore something that can be fixed fairly easy with patches.

And there isn't a war between Bfme and EaW.  The game that gets the better reviews doesn't get a trophy, nor does it automatically get more sales or anything.

Zing!

Your welcome. >:( I suppose you just wanted to hear more negativity to fill that endless black pit of enthusiasm you have for EAW? :(

Yeah i concur, but lets calm down a bit. Why are some people here negative about the game?

I think that Eaw is a much more innovative game then BFME 2, the combat is not as good probaly, but the Stragey in EaW is better.

Plus BFME does not have Land and Space battles.

-Cool game being made a high school student, I recommend checking it out.

I have no idea how this rivalry started over these tow vary different games, its like compairing Thief with Serious Sam, they both are in the same gen but still vary different.

BFME 2 does indeed have land battles, I'm not sure how you could have or even pull off space battles with a game set in the Tolkien universe.

Knights and Orcs and Goblins in space!...nope it isn't doing anything for me.

Or maybe i lack that certain imagination.
