Junker Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 With the help of Activision Germany we was allowed to collect seven questions in the German EAW-Community and send them to Petroglyph. Delphi answered them. You can find the questions and answeres here: 7 questions of the German EaW-Community. www.sw-eaw.de http://www.sw-eaw.de/jpg/banner6.jpg
MerLock Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 So no co-op play what so ever? Not even in skirmish mode, like several pple versus the AI?
Relentless Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 So no co-op play what so ever? Not even in skirmish mode, like several pple versus the AI? There's your diplomacy right there. Imagine a 4 player skirmish, the ones than align themselves with others and stab them in the back at the right moment will win. It bring upon us more of famine, death and war, you know religion has a lot to answer for. -Steve Harris, Iron Maiden
MerLock Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 All you have to do to prevent backstabbing is that the game creator can have an option that allows him to setup a game where the alliance factions can't be changed once the game has started. So everyone would choose who is on whose teams from the get go and once the creator hits the start button, it's all locked in. I just want to know if me and my freinds can play against the AI in skirmish mode.
hellangel666 Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 i think relentless means that the player could just "stop fighting" at the right moment allowing the enemy to flank your forces in an area that was previously defended by your ex-allies troops.... anyways many times this does no happen manly because there is no EXP in mp... if there was then this is a serious question that needs to be looked apon....
MerLock Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 So is there co-op play against the AI in skirmish mode or is it purely player vs player?
OMEGA Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 There are two totally different types of multiplayer in EAW. One is the skirmish mode which allows up to 8 players. This takes place over single battles and does not include the galactic map, but will involve co-op play. The other is Galactic Conquest which is 1 on 1. The players must move their forces across the galactic map and eliminate the other players forces across the many planets of the game. These will take much longer to complete than just a single skirmish. Basically: Skirmish- 1 battle up to 8 players Galactic Conquest- many battles over the galactic map 1 on 1 Hope that clarifies some things for you. ;D "The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some would consider to be unnatural."- Darth Sidious http://img481.imageshack.us/img481/2268/tfomegag25vz.jpg
Popcorn2008 Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Read the designer diaries they explain skirmish mode, where you can work on the same team. Their system makes it pretty impossible to pin the blame on one player due to every player sharing the same base. http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/3269/pffuserbar2globalmodnx9.jpg> Petroglyph Forums Moderator> LucasForums Moderator
MerLock Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I understand the two mp modes , just got confused by the Q & A. Just wanted to make sure that I can select the AI as the opponents in skirmish mode. Or is it pure real player vs real players?
Jmaster3265 Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Aw, thats too bad i enjoy friendly fire. "Infantry will flinch or react to nearby explosions from friendly fire, but they won’t take any damage from it." Huh? How can they react to it and have nothing happen (no dmg etc?) That doesn't seem to make much sense... : ??? http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/1135/jmaster3265signew13rd.jpg
MerLock Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I think the cool thing about Rome total war was the friendly fire but i guess EAW doesn't want it in the game because it does add to micromanagement. Starcraft had it as well. Always nice seeing your Terran tank blowing up your own troops.
NOT Hadoken13 Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 ya but that was it for friendly fire in that game..there was nothing else that killed your one units(except maybe one of the defiler's abilities and the lighting storm thing storm) my EAW online screen name [PFF]HAdoken13
Delphi-PG Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Players can team up to take on AI opponents. I would not have let something fans so love be left out of the game. Heck, the design crew (myself included) just did a comp stomp today to test some AI balance tweaks. =) Delphi-PGGame Designer/Community Rephttp://www.petroglyphgames.com
Delphi-PG Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Their system makes it pretty impossible to pin the blame on one player due to every player sharing the same base. From our early tests, players are rather enjoying this new feature. ;D Delphi-PGGame Designer/Community Rephttp://www.petroglyphgames.com
shadowsfm Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 but still, you cant have emps and rebs on the same team
Delphi-PG Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 but still, you cant have emps and rebs on the same team Correct, that's because the game was not designed like a traditional RTS. Remember this was a "MODE" we put into EAW. The game was not built around it. Delphi-PGGame Designer/Community Rephttp://www.petroglyphgames.com
Popcorn2008 Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Their system makes it pretty impossible to pin the blame on one player due to every player sharing the same base. From our early tests, players are rather enjoying this new feature. ;DI can't wait to try it out. It is a pretty intereasting concept sharing a base. That means everyone really has to help each other to succed. Great idea! http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/3269/pffuserbar2globalmodnx9.jpg> Petroglyph Forums Moderator> LucasForums Moderator
SirNuke Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 I honestly hope the quality of the average online EaW player is higher than the typical online player. Commanding a squad of 4 random people==ugly. Zing!
Teradyn_pff Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 This I think is going to be the best part of clans in EAW. Instead of each working independantly but allied on maps, you have to work together to protect one base. This will make for some very interesting gameplay. Starcraft had it as well. Always nice seeing your Terran tank blowing up your own troops.ok dude if you have to start microing due to the possibility of friendly fire... then micro... ...dont complain... or use your tanks or tell your "partner" to use his tanks in a better fashion..... microing units is what makes playing rts games fun... you know???
The_talented Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 oh hey delhpi this is kind of off topic but no1 has answered it yet.... will there be SSD's in the game?(Ships such as the lusankya, executor, agressor???)
Foshjedi2004 Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 It was answered months ago here: http://pff.swrebellion.com/index.php?topic=845.0 http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
