This may seem really dumb, but in the demo how do you do research? With the Imperials that is.

Build a research station, and click advace tech lv icon on build ground units

If goham is happy can we lock this

you may already have full tech though.....inwhich you can't research anymore

 

edit: ya i know when i first got my mods going i was like WTH is the tech option  ?!?!?!?. then i noticed..... #4 to the left so i quit and changed it to 2 planet start mod with lv 1 tech so much more fun  ;D

 

anyways many mods have full tech start as their implanted funtion. though thats for noobs

yes, a bit too simple.....maybe a mod will change that and makes it so that you have to research a bit more*looks at modders*(mainly because with one click, the imps gain like 5 new units+10 buildings while the rebels have to wait for R2-D2 to respawn to get just one.)

I think you should get some reserch that is useless, untill later then you can use to old reserch to get specil units
