It's pure coincidence.  It's hard to do clumps of crystals without them looking like a certain material...  especially since we'd used red, blue, and green crystals throughout those games.

Those Crystials are what is used in Lightsabers.

 

The stanard colours are:

Blue

Green

Red

 

Others are:

Purple/Violet

Silver

Bronze

Yellow

Orange

Viridian

Cyan

 

 

Those are the ones from kotor 1 & 2

But most are concided cannon, from what i have read.
