Most of the long standing regulars know each other enough that this is more like a friendly competition between all of us.  I don't know so much for the others, but I don't feel like boasting about how I might play a game I haven't got yet when the people hearing it are decent people who have just as much of a chance to win as I have.

 

So it's not so much about the win/loss for me.  It's more for me about just having a good time competeing and potentially winning a T-shirt.  If I go out in the first round, so be it.  I'll just need a little more practice.   

 

Edit:  I'll just add that the outcome I'm interested in is the Ghostly-Garbageben one.  Having played against each other before in other games they probably have some insight each other's style of play.  Having said that, Dork vs Fosh is going to be epic I'm sure.  If I could be a fly on the wall for that to get a glimpse of their in game chat... Probably going to be as funny as hell

Do you figure out a time that will work with your competitor? Or is it scheduled? I know I have certain times that I won't be able to play(other activities already scheduled. I think a galactic conquest would be too long and hard to schedule.

Oh no here comes the pressure lol.  I seriously think Ghostly will win in the end, but I'm not going to lay down and let him flatten me.   Oh well Ghostly and I and many others will probably play more EaW together after the tourney is over anyway.  I agree that this is more a fun competition than a real slug it out for bragging rights.

Hmmm, we have a total of 12 initial battles... this is either 4 too many or 4 too few.  For a proper elimination tournament we need the battles to start out as a power of 2.  As it is right now, we have 12 battles, 6 battles, 3 battles and the final battle having 3 participants?  It would take 3 battles to finalize this tournament:

AvsC

BvsC

 

The winner would be the one who won both of their engagements.  Although if each only wins once.... you stuck again.

A poll will start after EAW is released. 3 options of how the tournament matches go will be there. I might take suggestions but i probably already know what your thinking.

I say take a leaf from the NFL, use a seed system. Use a random number generator and assign people a seed spot. I'm too tired to crunch the numbers atm, but I think 6-8 seeds with a bye in the first round will make the rest of the tournament work with the current number of contestants we have.

Um, we have 24 people and 24 isn't a power of two.  Just some suggestings for getting the number to a power of 2 (16) by weeding out some weaker players early on.

Not sure if you're talking to me...but I was replying to other people's comments about wanting to watch other games, and I advised that as others have made videos of what they've played, we should have one player record the battle or something, and then post the link.

I was referring to each person that was going off topic.  It almost looks like Plonk posted in the wrong thread or something.  All furthur posts need to be about the tournament and its planning.
