For those of you who have taken a good look at the code, do you think it would be possible to implement a combined arms approach to infantry?  What I mean is instead of having two different types as we do now, a single infantry unit could include both anti armor and anti personal capability.  My idea would be to add a secondary missile fire for the standard infantry unit but I am not sure if the AI would employ it.  Another option would be to allow the infantry to fire both weapon systems concurrently (similar to the space ships) but with the missiles coming at a much slower rate of fire. However, I am doubtful this is possible unless they can be given "hard points"

 

Any thoughts?

Actually, how about having tons of Companies. Since companies are just groups of stuff you buy that seperate upon entering battle. Thus you could have Death Squadron, so that you buy it and when you come out of hyperspace viola you have the entire Death Squadron at your command, like a package. Now for this maybe have it as a Assault Trooper that is pretty expensive but hard to hit with powerful weapons such as a Missle Launcher and a prototype Rifle maybe?

Its quite possible, just make 2 special abilities like the T4 has. One would be a blaster and the other a rocket.

 

Could it be possible to give an infantry platoon 2 weapon types (like a starship has different laser/ion/rocket hardpoints) that fire at different rates? For instance: a laser and rocket infantry platoon, the lasers fire every few seconds, the rockets at a lesser rate?

 

Just a thougt.

Another idea, the Tie Bomber and Y-wing have two weapons, laser and torpedoes. Depending on the target they use one of these. Laser for small targets, torpedoes for capital ships. Maybe infantry could be programmed to use lasers/rockets depending on what the target is? As I see it, soldiers would use lasers against other infantry and use rocket launchers when they target a vehicle.

Yep - its possible. I am planning to do a new AT-AT for Zarrin.
