Re: Planet Choosing

I've got a few questions regarding the planets that were chosen to be put into Empire at War. Why were the planets that are in the game chosen? It is obviously that many of the main planets like Coruscant and Tantooine would for sure be in the game but how did some of the other ones get in that are not as popular, were they chosen for the campaign, or each of these planets has a purpose in the game.

Now there are many planets that are not in the game that I thought would be. These planets all have an importance and most are from episode III. planets like Kamino, mustafar, utapau, Felucia, Mygeeto and Polis Massa aren't in there. could they have not been put in on purpose for a future clone wars expansion?

Also how patchable are these items? Could these planets be patched into the game by Petroglyph once the game is released?

firstly some of the EpIII planets should not be put in, bf2 did that which was silly. Polis Massa is  an asteroid, there is nothing special about it, that was one of my many dislikes of bf2. However Kamino, mustafar, utapau, Felucia, Mygeeto are probably being saved for an expansion

Well, don't confuse the clone war and the classic trilogy. Planets you quoted may be in an extension for the clone war, all the question is : What will the extension be ?  ;D

But personnally I think it's completely normal that these planets aren't in EaW but it's clear it would be better to remove planets like shola and put billbringi for example.

Why can't EP III planets be put into a classic trilogy game? Its not like the planets just disapear after they were in the movie and then play no further role. Almost all the planets from KOTOR are in the game and that was 4000 years earlier. The game was suppose to bridge the trilogies, which surprised me that they didn't really put that many epIII planets in.

it was suppost to bridge episode 3 and 4, its kinda wierd that there isnt much episode 3 content. its also funny that there is more episode 2 stuff in there like the acclamator and geonosis, both of which didnt have anything to do with episode 3. hopefully this is a sign of an expansion though.

They are saving all the clone wars stuff for an expantion. Thats why they replaced Mustafar with Shola or whatever.

All the KOTOR and EU stuff is just in there, as there will most likely be no expantion for those eras. All the info we have right now definetly points to a prequal era expantion if there is one.

Delphi has hinted that mustafar would be in an expansion, but the expansion woud not be clone wars era since that really wouldn't be an expansion on to the game, but a whole different game entirely.

But it is still too bad that Mustafar wasnt included.

Mustafar will serve its purpose, once again,  in due time.

Well looks like it is official, clone wars expansion.

Now how does that play within the EAW time-line?

plus it's easier from canon to make an expansion on prequels than it is for the eu.

How so?

You can't expand the game backwords. It would be impossible to play on the CIS from the prequels to ANH since they die off half way through.

If they expanded the timeline on to say ROTJ or a little after, it would be much eaiser to expand on to the ANH timeline since that is the path the story takes anyway.

That is why I think Delphi says "Now how does that play within the EAW time-line?", because a clone wars expansion would not fit in this timeline. It would be more likely be it own game called Republic at War, not an exapnsion on. It would be like having medival total war and rome total war be the same game, they just aren't the same era.

that game had nothing to do with era's or the grand plan of things

Wasn't the planet Vader was incinerated on, eventually turned into his own private fortress place? If so, then it could still feature if the next plans are to move forwards in time.

The planet he was incinerated on was Mustafar, a lava world much like Sullust. Whether he made it into his own fortress I have no clue.

yea but most sw games if they do an expansaion they go backwards to the prequels not eu where a lot of people dont know about it ;p

and going to the eu and explaining people what happens is bad? Also the clone wars is 89% eu, heck it was 1st developed in eu after mentioned in anh.

Vader's private fortress is a planet known as Vjun. Several years after the battle of Endor Luke went there and used the force to rebuild Vader's castle, which had an ingenious camoflage system. Once inside he recieved a vision of Vader through the Force.

This has been your random fact for the day, have a nice day.

"Just another soldier reporting Sir,

I've served my time in Hell."

Honestly, before I came on these forums I thought I knew quite almost everything about Star Wars, heck I've just learned about the EU in these last months, so I consider myself to be one of the "General Public" and to be honest I hope they make Episodes 7, 8, and 9 plus an EaW expansion that does go into the EU, to help explain to us what happens next in the Star Wars universe.
