I just found the stats for the venator. it had

8 Dual Heavy Turbolaser Turrets

2 Dual Medium Turbolaser Turrets

52 Point-Defense Laser Cannons

4 Proton Torpedo Tubes

6 Tractor Beam Projectors

1137.0 meters long

Its role was a Carrier/Assault Ship/Fleet Destroyer

rather then a weak little carrier that EAW depicts it as, it should be a (like i said...) powerful gunship/carrier

increase cost, decrease the shield power, and increase its offensive capabilities.

also This ship is probably the primary pursuit and rapid responce vessel during the Clone Wars, as opposed to the Victory I which is not a good deep space combat vessel (and Victory II's which arrived too late to be of much impact). Possibly the deck weapons are heavy ion cannons to deal with the droid navies of the separatists.

According to the ROTS card game, there is an Acclamator Mk. II. It was made towards the latter part of the CW, and geared towards combat, not transport. I reckon the ones seen in EAW are of this kind. (There were also several other subtypes present, mainly refitted Mk. I's for different purposes.)

And, yes, the B-52 is scheduled for several more decades of service, despite originating in the 1950s.
