Question about FRAPS or similar programs and abilities.

I tried out an old trial version of FRAPS and was not impressed, so I haven't messed with it lately.  I was wondering though, how possible would it be to record an entire Galactic map 1v1 MP game with FRAPS or some other video software?

 

The reason I ask this is related to the MP tournament that is being set up in the General Descussion forum and I am curious about these tools as advertising for a mod that I am going to be helping with.

 

Any and all information and links on the possibilities here would be welcome.

With a "demo version" if you will you get 30 seconds of video time and of course bitmap screenshots. The results you'll will be a raw unsendable video so you would have to get another 30 seconds worth of video and put it together if you want (Into a Video Movie Maker).

 

If you get full version then you can change pictures to any format and videos for how ever long. Just gotta know when fraps ends to get best game results  ;D

Not that i'm aware of but fraps is good so far. My friend said he cracked his fraps into full version (however he did that  :-\)

Hmmm, well lets not conjecture on that here.  That is an illegal activity.

 

Anyway, FRAPS output is uncompressed so the avi it produces should be compressed.  What are the best tools out there to compress the files output by FRAPS?  Anyone answering this needs to include whether or not the software you are discussing is free or if it costs, what does it cost.
