mattyg Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 OK, not sure if this has been asked already (I searched and didn't see anything), but some guys I talk to at another message board and judging from a lot of the screenshots, their mini-map reveals everything, like this pic... http://home.maine.rr.com/mattyg/eaw2.jpg They say after a while everything just sort of appears visible. But not so for me. I always have what I guess you could call fog of war for the entire battle. See pic... http://home.maine.rr.com/mattyg/eaw1.jpg So my question is, how do I get to view everything on the mini-map? I built sensor's at the build points, but they reveal a little bit, I hired the mercs, everything. It never shows up for me. Any help is appreciated...
Delphi-PG Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 The system runs a check and estimates if you are likely to win the scanrio. If soo, the radar map will reveal for you. Delphi-PGGame Designer/Community Rephttp://www.petroglyphgames.com
Nevets Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 The system runs a check and estimates if you are likely to win the scanrio. If soo, the radar map will reveal for you. That's awesome. ;D I can see this being very helpful.
Relentless Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 The system runs a check and estimates if you are likely to win the scanrio. If soo, the radar map will reveal for you. Just how dominant do your forces have to be that this will happen? It wont be good if you have like one more unit than the enemy and everything is revealed, 'cause then the enemy loses one of its main assets in the battle, keeping the base shrouded in secrecy. It bring upon us more of famine, death and war, you know religion has a lot to answer for. -Steve Harris, Iron Maiden
mattyg Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 The system runs a check and estimates if you are likely to win the scanrio. If soo, the radar map will reveal for you. Well hot damn. I actually think it's better if it stays hidden because that makes it tougher, but thanks for explaining it...

Thats odd, Delphi how does that answer his ques i don't get it? That same thing happens to me fog of war doesn't go away until i move to that location. Isn't that how most RTS games are you have fog of war until you move there. Thats odd how you can see everything... http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/1135/jmaster3265signew13rd.jpg
Ishmael-PG Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Your advantage over the enemy has to be substantial in order to have the fog lifted. This is done to help you hunt down those last pesky units without them hiding behind a tree or rock. The limit is certainly not just one unit -- sometimes you don't even see it kick in until you are mopping up the last of an enemy's forces. Ishmael-PGSr. Designerwww.petroglyphgames.com
Teradyn_pff Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 With possibly 50-100 ground battles happening over the course of a single full galaxy MP 1v1 game, I can definately see the advantage this will bring in keeping the game moving along. Very well thought out there guys. My Death Star is bigger than your Death Star!"The XML is strong with this one!"http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/0/teradyn.png
Megajames Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 yes, on other games, i hate at the end of a battle having to serch the entire map for one troop, but this solves the problem Evacuate, in our moment of triumph. I think you overestimate their chances. Please can you post a comment on My clone story, in fan fiction. http://pff.swrebellion.com/index.php?topic=2306.0 (\_/)(O.O)(> <) This is Bunny.
