Cain Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Only the Death Star 2 fires on capital ships and space stations. :o :o (EVIL GRIN) The Death Star in EAW follows the time-line. Planets only. Not really - I can easly give it Piett's laser weapon and bow any ship to kingdom come Its quite easy actually. Same as adding new factions etc. - The Trivium Organization - Community Manager -- Petroglyph Fan Forums - CoAdmin & Human Resources Manager -
Darth Tyrant Posted February 7, 2006 Author Posted February 7, 2006 As Delphi-PG said, "this timeline" please understand that "this"timeline is in accordance to what we know what happens in this timeline, not would make something more useful. Yes it would be "more" useful if it could destroy cap ships. But it cant, yet Lets be honest for once here, if this game was going to follow the time line then why imperials are going to lose the game if the death star gets destroyed?, If you can all remember, when the first death star was destroyed the empire didn't lose the war, they remain in control over the galaxy and build a second one in ROTJ, and when the second death star was destroyed, the empire didn't lose control of the galaxy at that very moment, it took some time( I think a year) to reorganize the rebel fleet and hit hard the heart of the empire, then they took control over coruscant and build a new regime, which is the new republic. As you can see the empire never lost control over the galaxy, because they lost a death star, so I strongly disagree with that idea of petroglyph. Also, if this game is really going to follow the time line, then why the rebels have Admiral Ackbar and home one?, at this time Ackbar was Tarkin slave. The primary reason why I started this discussion is because I feel that if imperial players will lose the game if the death star gets destroyed, then the death star should have a higher purpose like making it possible to shoot to capital ships and shipyards, something that will give initiative to imperial players to build it and take the risk, other wise it will be a technology we will not be able to build, because the risk of losing the game is to high in comparison to its purpose. All I'm asking is to give the death star the power to at least shoot a capital ships so that imperial players take the risk to build one, other wise not many people will build it and we will not be able to see the cinematic.
Teradyn_pff Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Blowing up capital ships is not that useful considering the cost of the death star. Destroying a planet (or planets) that Mon Cals can be built on is another story. Now if the Rebels can build Mon Cal cruisers over a destroyed planet with a space station, then the death star truely has no point. Relentless Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 The point of the DS is to get rid of planets you dont really benefit from, but to the enemy they are vital. Take Alderaan for example: Imperial base size is highly limited there since the people hate the Imperium, whereas the rebels have no limitations whatsoever. Why not just blow it up istead of keeping it as a liability? Not to mention that it would be a powerful planet for the Rebels. It bring upon us more of famine, death and war, you know religion has a lot to answer for. -Steve Harris, Iron Maiden

I agree, i honestly dont care if the DS can or cannot blow up cap ships as long as i can destroy the pesty rebel bases. But in order to have the DS you have to ,One build it. Two, protect it with a fleet. Which isnt all to bad.
Darth Tyrant Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 Now if the Rebels can build Mon Cal cruisers over a destroyed planet with a space station, then the death star truly has no point. I agree 100% with this statement and it worries me alot, because after you blow a planet with the death star, you can still build a shipyard to create ships.
Megajames Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 but at least you we have killed most the moncal engineers and without them the rebs r domemed Evacuate, in our moment of triumph. I think you overestimate their chances. Please can you post a comment on My clone story, in fan fiction. http://pff.swrebellion.com/index.php?topic=2306.0 (\_/)(O.O)(> <) This is Bunny.
