The Saint Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Why is everyone foaming at the mouth for Diplomacy? it's not that hot (it would be a new layer but still not over important.) and back to the actual topic I'd love to see some of those planets and units in the actual game. with Hapes Planetary Advantage Distract Imp's with the Hapan's beauty. Or beat them to a bloody standstill..I mean heck if you add Hapes, then you have to add the other 62 planets in the Hapan Empire. Each of them heavily industrialized with their own little sector fleet, in addition to the main navy.
Darthscharnhorst2 Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Why is everyone foaming at the mouth for Diplomacy? it's not that hot (it would be a new layer but still not over important.) I guess it depends how it is implemented. As it stands now, it is rather silly for neutral planets to join the rebellion just because a ship parks in orbit or for neutrals to be run by pirates. My hope is that with the addition of a 3rd or 4th fraction *one representing neutral planets* the rebs will have to peacefully get planets to join their cause. Also if there is a loyalty rating, a planets income/bonus could be tied to it meaning that the people there are not overly joyed when the empire crushes them and it takes time to achieve maximum productivity or planetary bonus. This is one of those features which I equate to gameplay depth but also adds to the lasting appeal, replayability, and fun of the title.
Nevets Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Also what side a species is on should be decided by diplomacy. Them automatically being on a side is dumb. If you treat them bad and just use them as canon fodder all the time and not protect their homes then yea they wouldn't want to help you out for too long. Also if you kill dangerous creature they should like you more, if you kill harmless creatures then they should like you less. That is just how I envision it.
Necro Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 imho the best part of diplomancy was that sometimes a planet will convert to your cause just by having the nearby systems.
plokoon9619 Posted January 29, 2006 Author Posted January 29, 2006 Judging by the planets they removed it looks like there will be multiple expansions. Clone Wars, Barkura, Thrawn, Clone Palpatine, NJO, and that new series.
Nevets Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Judging by the planets they removed it looks like there will be multiple expansions. Clone Wars, Barkura, Thrawn, Clone Palpatine, NJO, and that new series no way they would think that far in advance to the point of actually making data for it. They were probaly just planets they intended to add, but when the realized they had to save some popular planets for an expansion they had to cut some.
