Garbageben Posted January 20, 2006 Share Posted January 20, 2006 Well I haven't found out how to do so in the demo (don't know if you can), but I found out something great in the game data files. In the game data files there are several text documents labeled as capital ships (ie Star Destroyer etc.). In these files are a list of ship names. So you can just write all your names in there and not worry about having to rename them during the game. Some of you probably knew this, but I thought I'd post it anyways. I recall reading a forum thread (I think of the official lucasarts forum) saying that the Developers did not finish that feature, and therefore it didn't make it's way into the game. Zing! It can't be that hard, especially when I bet a mod will have this feature in the first day of release. This is something definitely needed for immersion reasons, especially when other roleplaying features such as unit experience and character development aren't in. I'm in full agreement here. Though I hold out hope for unit experience. I mean if C&C Generals can have it why not the ships in EAW where exp would really matter! As someone already posted, there are ship names in the files and if you hover the cursor over an SD you can see its name.Actual renaming may not be in, and the demo left it out. It doesnt matter to me if you can change those names in the files.
