Official Thread - General Positive/Negative Feedback

Recommended Posts

I downloaded, and started seeded only to have some type of bandwidth restriction put on me :(  Went from 80kb/s upload to less than 5. Sigh.

It plays very differently then just about any other RTS I have other seen.  I also don't think I've played any game that puts such a huge negative on charging.

I think the demo is way too short.  The battles are so short because of no base building, I think there should have been at least 3 land battles.

EDIT: Move developer feed back to apporiate topic.

Ah ha!  Correct topic.

I liked a lot of stuff, like how each unit is very powerful against some other type. The cap was barely noticeable to me, very good. It gets very irritating, however, when your enemy destroys 4 out of the 5 units in a group, since it still counts as a full pop.  There seems to be too many buttons on the interface, many of which are not intuitive (particularly in unit controls).  I did not notice a hold ground button, which was irritating since units seem to like to wander off [particularly the artillery unit likes to move, often into the range of the anti tank ground defenses.  Grrr].  The zoom controls is cool, but for me each mouse wheel click seemed to zoom either too far in or out.  I like to be able to see both detail of the units and be able to control them at the same time.  I didn't like how spacebar was set to cinematic mode, I kept hitting it by accident since it is usually set to center on last event.  Though points for how quick and smooth the game switches between regular and cinematic modes.  X-wings seemed like their cost is too low, since they are only 50 credits more than headhunters.

These are fairly minor issues, since I really like the game is layed out.

Zing!

I enjoyed the demo immensely, I wish you had been able to allow us to construct the headhunters, or at least the marauder corvettes. Some expanded space capabilities to hit the starbase, or the ability to retreat would have been nice. It didnt make too much sense not to be able to run away especially after I had lost both my Neb Bs, and one of my Corvettes and I would have liked to have run. The demo did seem rather short though, it would have been nice if you had added one or two more planets to it but I do suppose with the game less than a month from launching I can hold out till then

I did the tutorial from 1-5 and i'm amazed at the R2-D2 and C-CPO how they steal tech. Choose which unit blue print to steal and such. Bounty Hunters killing smugglers was also nice to see. One thing i'm worried about is if there will be a folder where pictures are stored. Great game and I like how easy the interface is. Building is a snap and the days are long enough. Weather effects are also cool and adds to the planet. Banthas and Jawas on Ryloth? Did I miss something ? :| Wasn't there supposed to be Twi'Leks ??

I missed the Twi'Leks as well. I also wonder why in the folder you have a listing of names for different ships that we cant even build. Odd.

So far I have to say I really really like it!

The cinematic mode is great (although I think the camera sometimes misses the action, and it changes position too quickly), the galactic mode is AWESOME.

The battles are too quick though. I took the tutorial space station down in something like 5 seconds. This should somehow be improved IMHO (including the fast build times and travel times).

The Star Wars atmosphere is totally present, and that's fantastic.

No serious complaints, looks good and can't wait for the whole thing!

Well - I think I am the only one here with 20 Bugs, 10 Functionality issues, 10 Graphic issues, 10 Game Design issues, and a huge list of comments.

Hmmm maybe its because I'm 27 and a producer and ex mod maker - well just wait for the old SW RTS Fans to show up and you will see. Anyway I will write down my feedback. It will probably take me 2 days. First I want to see what Jedi Igor has to say. And of course I need to better play the demo.

I enjoyed the demo :) Nice work petro ! I will hit it as hard as I canwith my feedback :)

For the Campaign part. Medium difficulty. Everything is great and a snap to build. Transfering is a snap from one planet to another. Space combat is great and the AI only knows how to bug you. It cant do much more but annoy you. All I see is speeder bikes and boom. The Imperials act like the Rebels :| The Turret defence caught me off guard 3 times so I had to call in bomber runs when possible. Captured a AT-AT and I was kinda disappointed that Han couldn't enter the vehicle since hes with Chewie. AT-ST's, Speeders, Stormtroopers kept on pouring out of the factory line so even if you wanted to just chill out you couldn't. Taking control of the natives? Very nice and I thought they would have been AI controlled.

I only did the tutorials at this point, and I must say I enjoyed it a lot...

But there is one thing I don't particularly like.. Its the speed at witch things happen.  It feels more like Battlefront 2's galactic conquest, where everything is instant and is only about the battles.  The ships move incredibly fast at least in the demo between the planets.  And you are able to build entire fleets in a single game "day".  I personally think it should be more along the lines of the old Star Wars Rebellion, where you can speed/slow down the days, but things take the "days" to be completed.

But I guess thats just me loving Rebellion so much and wanting this to be a clone. I don't know :)

The buttons on the interface seem to not refresh their tool tip when you leave your mouse over them and something changes... (low on credits, past unit limit, etc).  Also, the unit special abilities need to have a tooltip to let you know what the key combination is set to to use it.

A couple of issues that poked out at me at first, but will list more as they come across.

I like how the fighters dogfight, been playing battlegrounds lately and it is a nice change.

The demo is great, the tutorial is absolutely flawless however I think its too short. It could have used the skirmish mode. Even if you didnt include every unit a space and ground skirmish mode would have been wonderful. Of course now I wonder if another demo will be released before the game drops with the skirmish mode, or something to have it unlocked maybe?

I think it is pretty good, i like how builiding units goes by fast and at a good pace. What i didn't like was the mission was kind of hard for me, the Empire seemed to out-number me... =( Also I was disapointed that there was no skirmish....I wanted to kill twi'leks in the tutorial but i saw none, it said they joined the rebels and destroy them if any are in the way, but no none came...=(

Only complaint Id have from my testing would be the speed of building ships etc as well. I know you want the fast paced  battles and such but it takes away a ton of strategy with the rate ships and infantry are made. Can just sit there and pump out ships nonstop in very little time.

I had a problem with the speed to but im talkin about the battle speed but i think there will be a option to  slow down the game because  on the space map i could do any tatics i thought of because the speed was to fast but aside from that a good little taste of a reaaly cool and in depth game

You can in fact speed up and slow down the rate of the game in both Galactic and strategical maps. Try the options menu under game settings.

that also slows down the "days" though I believe.  Which is something I don't want.

I would prefer days to be faster, give 1/6 the credits, but then it would actually make sense. Make it take 5 days to build a ship at least. This 50 ships a day thing just isn't my cup-o-tea.

ABSOLUTELY INCREDABLE!!!!

From the moment I opened up to the main menu to the moment I reluctantly had to hit the quit button to do my homework, I was hooked!

The interface puts all actions and strategies right there in front of you and it's so easy to learn! The tutorials are excellent and cover every aspect of the features in the demo. Combat on both land and in space is extremely cinematic and fluent, gripping you from beginning to end. the But the main thing that enveloped me into the Star Wars universe was the simply SUPERB music selections! The music changes accordingly depending on the situation, and fluently and flawlessly moves from one symphonic masterpiece to the next (John Williams is my idol! Imperial March forever!!). The all around presentation of this game hits a home run! The main menu is the best main menu I have ever laid eyes upon in a game, ever (Ingenious with the TIE Fighter cockpit!). The graphics are so excellent! I didn't care that my game was lagging a little bit more, I just had to see the full splendor of this game and you won't be disappointed either! My only complaint is that I longed for more! Definitely worth the wait, and I can't wait to get my hands on the full version of this game!

At this point I don't care that some ships are missing, cause I had an excellent time with only 3 Tartans and 2 Acclimators! This game is so much more than just the ships, IT'S AN EXPERIENCE!!

Well I have only played a little bit so far, but I'll post feedback anyway.

I love the game.  It looks great and plays great.  You cannot just mass units and try to charge into a ground base with its shield.  I tried to do this on easy mode just to test it and got slaughtered by the Imperials.  A good job done there by Petroglyph.  One thing I did notice on easy though is that in space all the Rebel player has to do is get a lot of xwings and ywings and no capital ships and has a fairly good chance of winning even with no capital ship support.  Since the ships I was actually facing were not the Tartan or Broadside I'll actually reserve judgement on this for later.  Overall I felt the demo was too short, but fun. (yes I'm a greedy star wars fan :))  If this demo is close to what the actual game plays like then I will be well satisfied with this game (I had huge expectations too).  Thanks to Petroglyph for creating what I had thought before was a dream RTS and this demo confirmed it for me. :) (Check out the demo media gallery for screenies from me on the highest settings)

The demo was amazing in my opinion. The tutorial was captivating, though somewhat easy compared to the galatic conquest. The first time I went to invade Tatoine I was still not completely used to the game so I keep retreating :) though now I got the hang of how everything works together. Though, my only complain is the demo was so small (not in size mind you lol). I wish it would have had 5 planets in the conquest so we could get more ground and space maps. Also its a shame to include Hoth but not make it playable.

All in all the game is super great. I cant wait for the full version as im gonna play the crap outta this demo until then. The game is super amazing and it truly puts Star Wars into the RTS genre once and for all.

hey, first off i want to say i had really high expectations - and you met them and went beyond-

i love the demo, my only major complient is that the full version isnt finished yet, ive played games hardcore, almost full time from dukenukem 3d, red alert and warcraft2 to, today, when im playing dods,civ4, and wow.

you better belive im buying this game and so are my friends, im sure, youll end up, costing me a crappy job or something but besides, that, here are a few questions

and suggestions my main concern is with -

lack of friendly fire?

now, to some this may be annoyingbut to me, im sad about it, friendly fire add's to the confusion of the battlefield, and to the immersion of the game, im not talking about every single lazer im speaking most of artilarry area of effect and bombers. ithink it would make commanders be more careful and make the battlefield more deadly

smugglers - why cant i recall them after i got them spending credits, of course when i do i can see a chance of them being caught.

retreating in space - i couldnt do so in my demo battle, but my friend said i could, if the case is you 'can' ingore this if not, why? i could see having to get your ships all to the edge of the map, but you should be able to retreat

mp demo - any chance of a 1v1 demo? like 4-6 planets, i just want to play this game i truely love it.

also, retreating from a planet should yield a small amount of credits, as your 'leaving' with some resource's.

and most important recomindation - release the damn game- i cant wait ;)
