Megajames Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 For a demo, HUGE, most are about 150 mb Is that zipped or unzipped, Because if thats unziped thats going to take all day to download.(I do have 1meg broadband but still)Well I will play it till midnight, then the next day i will sleep at school and play the demo till midnight again. Evacuate, in our moment of triumph. I think you overestimate their chances. Stellar_Magic Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 750 Megabytes... Holy $hit!!! Thats huge for a demo. Enormous! Around a 1/3rd the size of the actual game. Samheyn Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 depends on the connection you've got. With a 256kbit DSL connection 750 MB are very much and the download my last several hours. But if you got a good cable modem with a 5mbit connection it might be a little more than 15 minutes.(personaly I use a 6mbit cable modem) but it all depends on the servers.. I think in the first hours after the demos release all main download servers and mirrors will be too busy to get a good connection speed...
OMEGA Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 For a demo, HUGE, most are about 150 mb Actually, compared to some other demos I have seen like Battlefield 2 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted, this is actually relatively average. Those to games ranged between 1 or 2 gigabytes! (1000 megabytes= 1 gigabyte) But then again, these are different types of games, naturally being more demanding on your PC than an RTS. Most new computers today have around 40 to 200 gigabytes of hard drive space, so if your computer is relatively new, you shouldn't have to worry at all about it. WhiteSkull Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 750mb is not that big any more, most demos these days are 500mb to 1gig or so.

Junker Posted January 16, 2006 Author Posted January 16, 2006 The beta of BFME 2 (Battle for Middle Earth 2) is 1,3 GB big. http://www.sw-eaw.de/jpg/banner6.jpg

Teradyn_pff Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Someone should host this thing broken into 50MB pieces for the 56k'ers. My Death Star is bigger than your Death Star!"The XML is strong with this one!"http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/0/teradyn.png
Foshjedi2004 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Not sure how we can do it. Doesn't anyone have AIM or MSN? One person downloads it and then we share it. May take some time but we sort it out by timezones. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Teradyn_pff Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Certainly an EAW fan site should be able to be persuaded to host the partial files? Would be a big hit boost and some might like their site and stick around. OMEGA Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Wow. I didn't realize so many people still have dial-up. Looks like there will be a lot less people playing online than I thought... 750 MB really isn't that big for a broadband user such as myself, but now I see why so many people are complaining. Oh well, at lest it will have a lot of content.
