EAW Demo - Functionality&Game Logic Issues

Congradulations on the best RTS I've seen since good old C&C!!  The demo was great, and aside from the minor issue below, I loved it!.  Keep up the good work, I can't wait for Febuary.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but the Rebel artillary seems to keep wanting to move too close to its target and to its death, even when it it's deployed.  It should either have a "hold ground" stance or be un-movable when in deploy mode, until it is manualy undeployed.

Okay, in tutorial #2, if you send your raid fleet to Tatooine in general instead of dragging it into the land icon, it tries to do a space battle. However, because there must be no Tatooine space map, the game just sits at the "Continue.." screen forever. Clicking Continue does nothing and you have to restart the game.

Issue 4

 

 

1.Ships exiting hyperspace tend to get stuck near asteroids and can't move. Or I even had once 2 MCs exiting one on top of the other in one entity - the game was heavly lagging then.

 

2. I want bigger ships to form in vertical formations - its sucks when they do not use the space above them to give me more fire power. They all move in collums :(

well first like Cain said, I also had one ship hyper in, and when it appeared it was above/below another ship so when it stopped from hyper speed, it got stuck and did nothing. can't remember if it fired or not, but certainly didn't move.

 

also I'm not sure about fighters/bombers but the big ships just won't fire at the station and I guess at other ships too, if all the hard points arre destroyed! plus sometimes ships in general just won't follow orders. or won't line up in a way so that they can fire as many guns as possible at the chosen target.

1.  Similar to Cain's suggestion about formations, the ground combat becomes very difficult and disorganized when different unit types start intermeshing with eachother.

 

Oftentimes it is difficult to control the units effectively, because they don't maintain any type of formation, even if you try to manually force them to do so.

 

2.  More importantly, it would really be helpful if the Rebel Troopers and the Plex Soldier were not automatically put in the same 'group' when clicked on.  I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but seperating them into two distinct groups would be very useful.

There is still a "grid" in space battles. I'm not sure if that's intended to stay there, but damn is it an eyesore!

 

first time posting but @ naja ..... are you talking about the reinforcement grid? just close it and the red grid goes away.... other then that the only grid is on the mini map.... which helps alot....

 

(currently using bryants mod)

 

- also is there ANY way of getting non-fighters to finish off a star base?......... it's a little gay waiting for 30 mins as your last A wing or X wing tries to take out the crippled star base while there are 5 capital ships just "sitting" around.... and even worse when you don't have any fighters or bombers period :-(

 

- also whats up with the speeders.... i made mass amounts of them in the demo but bame.... i can't land them on the planet?!?!?!

 

- third is it me or are corrvets just over powered? like i had 4 a wings 4 x wings and 4 bombers get taken out in 15 seconds vs one imp corrvet..... and when i tried taking them out with my capital ships it took ages.........

 

- there any way of making imp's attack your planets? i go for hard mode but it just keeps returning it to normal.... (must be stupid me)

-Description: If you build turrets or other small structures on the small construction pads, while infantry units are too close to the pad, the units will be stuck and won't move until you destroy the turret

-Steps to reproduce: 1- Play a land battle. 2- Move an infantry unit close to a small construction pad. 3- Build a turret or something else. 4- Wait for the turret to be completed. 5- Try moving your unit

-Description: I was in the Multiplayer game lobby and it disconnected, i tried 6 times and it would not connect anymore. Yes i have played a Skirmish online before, so i dont see whats wrong.

Description of Problem:

When trying to join a multiplayer game without a password (blue) a message is shown in the lobby saying that you have entred the wrong password. Actually the games have set a password but EaW thinks they have none and behaves like it except that it shows the message "Wrong Password" when it fails to join.

 

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Try to log into a game that shows up as game without password (blue).

2.

 

Actual Results:

Message in the lobby: "Wrong Password"

 

Expected Results:

Join the game / Show up as private games (orange).

 

How often does this happen?

Hum... It tends to happen more often with certain people. For example, 2 out of 4 games "failed" with a certain buddy while 6 out of 6 worked when another one hosted. But sometimes randomly choosen games in the lobby fail because of the same reason.

 

Additional Information:

- Online-Options are set to default (all boxes checked, default port).

- I have no router (internet connection is established via an ANT).

- I use the windows firewall (but nothing else).

- I use Windows XP.

- Game language is german.
