EA Vs The Ghosts of Westwood

At CNCNZ.com (cross promoted on Empire-At-War.com) we put together an article that is not entirely specific to the Empire at War community, crosses over with the C&C Community, well its for both really. But its well written, hits at EA a bit, EAW V BfME2. I just thought everyone on these fine forums would like to read it. To quote the opening paragraph....

The thing about a multi-million dollar company taking over and incorporating a small games studio should go well. After all you gain the staff, the experience and even the cleaning lady. What you don't want to do however is use all this power you wield, and then fire all their asses in the hope that you've gained enough experience yourself to survive in a "dog-eat-dog" RTS games market. But that's what EA did to Westwood, and hell is it going to be an action they'll live to regret! Or will it be?

Ever since my affiliations with cnc-files.com.. have i hated EA

They ruined everything when they took over.. and it wasn't until recently that they fixed the Horrid uber bad "scud bug" and a host of other exploits for generals..

They really dont care for the customer once u dish out ur $$$

while i have to admit bf 2 is good,

their Games are incomplete.. and full of bugs.. not to mension extremely rushed.

We will never see RA3 because EA had to be such (*#&$ ... but at least they left and made petroglph.. too bad they couldnt take the licences of cnc and the ideas with them..

BF 2 was a game that would have been great.. had it been completed.. now ..they have 3 patches.. not even counting the first one. .since that one needed patching because that patch sucked soo bad

Now we are being told that they will have mini expansion packs that cost 10 $ to buy online for bf 2 coming soon .. so what.. does that mean no more patches with new content.. that means.. that u just took our 50 bucks and arent even going to give us the complete game!!?!?!

Horrible support for the player base.. EA is doomed .. it will be boycotted soon..i can just feel the anger in people seeing games rushed.. that could have been instant classics

Eh, I thought both Vietnam and BF2 weren't too bad, at least the license-whore, money-is-only-priority tendencies of EA didn't come out in full force. Regardless, I have hated them since they released Generals. If you can get past the fact Generals has nothing to do with C&C, it is a fairly good game. But regardless, it doesn't deserve the C&C title, and I will never forgive EA for destroying the C&C series. I have always like the SimCity line, and I fear for the day when Maxis releases a flop, as it will most likely be the end of them too.

I can't even think of an appropriate ending sentence to this rant with no profanity.

Back to topic, good article. I am actually curious now to see what BfME2 gets rating wise. Not that I'm going to feed the EA monster if it gets good reviews.

Zing!

If you hate EA games burn their headquarters and stop crying. I would but i'm across the border or dont know where the Canadian headquarter is. If you get sued then try your best to get out :P Anywho BFME 2 has a C&C Generals feel to it. Its like i'm playing C&C with BFME 2 textured units :|

All I know is that the first BFME seemed very lazy. At first, I was very excited: I even compensated for the abysmally low unit caps and horde sizes by modding them in - 60 Orcs per Orc Horde with a maximum evil army pop cap of 1000 seemed just about right. :)

But I got very, VERY disillusioned when the "big" battles (Helm's Deep, Minis Tirith, the Black Gate) came up. For one, why would there be a base-building element in those missions? It ruined the entire feel of being the last of the free Western kingdoms buying time for Frodo at the Black Gate when I had to fend off wargs from my...base?...and could just re-purchase lost units and ressurect fallen heroes. :? For two, the enemy AI just sent single wave after single anticlimactic wave at my forces, rather than attack in one large, unending horde; oh boy, Helm's Deep! After I survive 10 Uruk Hai coming at my walls every 15 seconds (even after they blow up the wall), I can summon the Rohirrim and...destroy two Isengard bases? Wtf?

Ha ha ha.. i know lots of people that would like to burn down ea.. but.. we cant do that legally cant we.. :D

and another thing

You are playing generals with BFME 2 textured units

Same engine they just tweaked it. and added LOTR stuff into it.. Its still westwoods old SAGE engine EA just wants to make the most profit off the engine that old westwood made

Hey guys check this out, it shows the EA games are scared (censored)

Quote from a EA Staff (Only a snippet of the message))

And I ask you this, if Empire at War has a pretty site and has a bigger stake in community, where is their community section? Where are the community leader reports on a community summit? Did they have one? Did they invite community balance testers to their studio to help balance their game? How lively are their official forums? You can have a pretty site, but at the end of the day, people want news, they want interesting stories, and they want an easy way to talk to their community manager. Our site might not have the flash and "play me" everywhere, but it's easy to navigate and it gets the point across. People want to play the real game.

EAW vs BFME 2

It almost came out that they are scared  Yes yes be scared :P Hey everybody knows where to look for our "community" and look at the sigs me and every other mod is putting out on other forums. They click it and register on our forums and others. Look at all the other fan forums around

I have seen this. And much, more more....

After this i couldnt play for a week because i was laughing that hard.

They didnt mention that the beta testers who were invited to the EALA studio were bought from that time on. Just look at gr.org and the rules they have set up:

No negative spoken language about EA or topic gets closed and you get warned or banned. One admin said and i quote:

" a justification for nazisme"

...when is nazisme justified?

The board rules were even set up that APOC has to feel welcome on the gr.org board. Its understandable that a site owner feels happy that a com man stops by but who made the site? Right, the members not APOC.

If a company is bad then you should be able to tell so. No flaming, just the facts.

I wrote a report on it based on APOC posts. It got me bannedthen left behind with a warning level of 70%.
