Limit the number of the ships you can capture !

If you can capture land units why not ships ? Let's say that every faction can only mantain 3 small captured ships, 2 medium and one big cap ships.

 

Enable the same heroes that can capture on land to capture in space if that ship has taken full hardpoint damage except the engines.

 

Come on Petroglyph and LEC - Pls - this will not unbalance the game !

 

Edit: If you capture more extra ships - they will auto scrap after 30 days or you can scrap them then. this action will give some credits or extra near ships health/repair boost. I do not thing that this will be a non SW scenarion or that it will unballance the game in any way.

Ship capturing should be done with the large number of crew in mind. Only a highly trained and well equiped troop transport ship could put enough soldiers on a ship to capture it. And it gets a little rediculous when you talk about a target like an ISD.

 

I think the main problem (other than it is too close to release), is the fact that Petroglyph doesn't want to see an ISD being fielded by the Rebel Alliance.

Ship capturing should be done with the large number of crew in mind. Only a highly trained and well equiped troop transport ship could put enough soldiers on a ship to capture it. And it gets a little rediculous when you talk about a target like an ISD.

 

I think the main problem (other than it is too close to release), is the fact that Petroglyph doesn't want to see an ISD being fielded by the Rebel Alliance.

 

Destorying all the hardpoints will mean that most of the ship is damaged and the life support is out. You have only the engines left.

 

Think that we are searching for a short term solution similar to the land action so we may have a chance to (via a miracle) to convince them to enable it.

 

There is almost no time to implement any other fancy solution - like may you desire.

 

As for ridicolus things - well this is a game and Han Solo can take on his naked chest AT-At weapons fire and survive with only a few hairs burned ;)

 

I know that the beta is finished .... but hey ... we can still could give them a message that we whould have settled even with this - and Delphi could explain if this can be moded or why they didn't do it originally.

 

Maybe we will get it in an early patch.

I want ship capturing, but not excactly in that way. Both sides have heroes that can capture ships (not all of them will be in this game).

 

But you can only capture one at a time and it only last for that battle or possibily you can hold on to that ship, but that hero is not able to do anything else till it is destoryed or you scrap it.

It should be simple to mod in, just make a boarding craft and give it Chewies capture ability but modified for space

 

You may get a CTD if this is not planned to work ;) Maybe Petroglyph could let that door open and avoid us a crash.

tbh this should apply to the rebels only as the imperials never needed to with their limitless credits and crew resources. It should be limited to a small amount of ships only and any ship size including ISD because the rebels did capture maintain and use ISD's so they crewed them with something.

Well, if you have Ackbar, for example dock with a SD or smaller with his Mon Cal, then maybe. I don't know the precise crew complements of a Mon Cal, but having Han and Chewie in the Mil Falc capture an ISD would be rediculous. It would be way different than them capturing an AT-AT.

yes they did capture the tantive IV but what did vader say destroy the ship say there were no survivors, hence you missed my point entirely. The rebels need to steal to survive the empire does not.

The Rebels are very unlikely to have the extra man-power to take over a large Imperial ship, let alone crew it and the ship they attacked from efficiently.

 

The best you could hope for is to capture the ship, which would put all of your weapons and special abilities for both out of commission. You would then need to get both ships out of the area to get them to a place you can repair and properly crew both.

i would be great to capture enemy ships...

but it should be very difficult... in the xwings series there were always needed a great amount of assault transports... and while they where in the capturing process they were very vulnerable

As I said twice before (not flaming just an opinion to bring in) that a bigger ship should capture a smaller ship since

1) Bigger ships are usually highly populated then small ships.

2) If a ship has a combat hero then 2 heroes should be able to take over the ship the same size or bigger.

3) If you have a commando squad there would be a 90% chance of things going well in capturing ships any size.

No they didnt, all it took was one. They made lots to make it look realistic. Use AlliED and put a fighter with board to capture order and it can capture it

Read on to see the Trek fantasy, DS9 writers' probable solution and then the reality of just how difficult such a thing would be (under 'Realistic Mission'). :)

 

Sort of puts into perspective why the Alliance never had any such ships in their ranks, back in the early years!

The Plans for the X-wing was taken by the X-Wing Designers when they left for the Rebellion. and the Prototypes were the only copies of the x-Wing.

But i like the idea of Ship Capture but only if you can use them in a covert mission like scouting Corucant or something! the RTS's ive plan no matter how quickly i take the ship they are never fooled! i want to be able to do that. i also want the ship capture option but it should be after battle and difficult to do.
