Cain Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Well from what we know there is no plan for an expansion but nobody will say no if it will be needed. It all depends how well EAW will sell and be recieved by the critics. So anwyay what I want us to do in this topic is to think what we will like to get from an expansion. It needs to be something cool without significant game engine: Here is what I want to see: 1. More units2. Even more units3. More planets 4. More Heroes5. Unit Experience gain : Rookie, Battle Harden, Elite and Expert.6. I also want to be able to find and train possible jedi.7. To get more neutral factions and I want them to have an impact or even be playeble.8. I also want the game to start from Episode III right after the moment when the jedi are killed and to go with the timeline until Endor. This is what I want. What do you think ? And what do you want and why ? - The Trivium Organization - Community Manager -- Petroglyph Fan Forums - CoAdmin & Human Resources Manager -
CrushProject Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Sweet, thats really close to my thoughts as well. An xp system would definetly further set this game apart, and once that was in place the jedi training system would be better applied, and add a more custom feel to the game. You could almost do a create-a-character system like the new bfme which would be sick. I wish that multiplayer had a galactic map tho. Even if i had to wait for my turn to do something, it would still be superior to the single map scenario (in theory and imo). This is probly the biggest thing on my wishlist. And id rather have later timeline ships than earlier timeline ships. Still pretty similiar to your thoughts all in all tho. EDIT: what about a few more playable races? the forced imp vs reb idea means only so many combinations before boredom sets in.

Cain Posted December 25, 2005 Author Posted December 25, 2005 there are plans for a expansion, trust me. Yep / but they are similar to the ones that NASA has for moon missions again. It all depends. Its true that the moders will get us more ships and planets but some necessary features will still be missing. Hey Bryant I'm at home so I can't chat with you now. But remember that we have some unfinished matters to attend to PM me and send our - Merry Christmas for all the Nexus guys ! - The Trivium Organization - Community Manager -- Petroglyph Fan Forums - CoAdmin & Human Resources Manager -
Juggernaut1985 Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 No Cain he means it, he's spoken to LucasArts. And my mod is doing 6 of the things you listed.

What about a Observer option. And if you want to be able to call your closest fleet/troops into action and fight one of both of them. This will be nice. At least a max of 4 players should be able to play the full galaxy. Or if you are too far from the battle and it will be unnrealistic to join the fight due to distances. Maybe you will be able to send only some troops or even a character with a fast ship etc. Btw I will also want to be able to take heroes in my prison. And the officers you get to be able to name them get experience and even become jedi one day if they are good. Not to forget the ability to modify my hardpoints and to have the ships more realistic in terms of what they can carry.... etc. Ohhhh my God - when the SW players will see that their ISDs will not carry troops ... lol .... it will be a nightmare of complaints. Not to mention the tractor beams (I hope that at least this are in). No Cain he means it, he's spoken to LucasArts. And my mod is doing 6 of the things you listed. Hmm maybe its a new developemnt, months ago when I disscused it there was no clear plan. Anyway I know your mod or others will get a lot of the stuff in and thnks God for that. Still I will love to see an expansion with tones of new and simple cool features. - The Trivium Organization - Community Manager -- Petroglyph Fan Forums - CoAdmin & Human Resources Manager -
EliteJal Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 I want more units ( Kotor units, New units : New Republic army (After the Endor)All ships Future technology (Perhaps Dark troopers are back )More planets and All heroes No population limit (I prefer to have a large army (50 units at least).)Even more powerful Death Star and additional new deadly weapons for the Alliance or Republic army.Campaign will start after the end of the battle of Endor and will show what happened next, it will have also a mix from kotor Stories. 1) Thrawn story (after the Empire)2) Admiral Zaarin story : With Ties defenders and ties advanced 3)Malak, RevanMandelorian WarsKotor 2 part : Revolution in Onderon 4) Sith Wars : Darth Traya, her apprentice (I don't remember his name, he has one eye and he is in kotor 2) trained General Vacu of Onderon who became a Sith and attacked Onderon and Queen Dalia. The game will try to answer questions like these :What happened to the rest of imperial high devoted officers ?Was the entire Imperial fleet completely destroyed ?Was the war over ? If No Who was the new leader of the Empire forces ?How Revan and Malak fell to the dark side of the force ?Why the Mandelorian War had happened ?Did Leia become a Jedi ?
Nevets Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Hmm I was thinking about making this thread yesterday. Anyway, it sounds kind of clear there will be an expansion, the way Delphi said "mustafar will find its place" or something. EDIT: Ok, a lot of yours is stuff I want, sorry if I repeat. -Have the game start at the same timeline, but a tech tree that goes from epIII-epVI, maybe slightly beyond.- No linear story contraints. a completely dynamic story, you create the events, you decide the objectives. The tech tree only goes to ROTJ, but the game only ends when the empire or rebellion is defeated.-Hero death. A feature that adds strategy, and truly allows you to change the star wars story.-Customizible heroes. You get to make a character from a number of different species. This will allow the player to truly feel like they are having an impact on the star wars galaxy.-More movie units. If you are making a star wars game you need to include movie stuff first. (SSD, tie interceptor)(And it would be nice to finally be able to play all three Mon cal classes: winged, wingless, and home one)-Few more EU units. There should be no need to make new units when the EU (especially other strategy games) has already come up with them for you. You should put in movie units first, then eu, and if you absolutely have to then create new ones.-More movie heroes (lando, yoda...)-More eu heroes (Thrawn, Garm Bel Iblis, Borsk Fey'lya)-More planets-8 player galactic conquest-More uniquness on planets. The yavin video looked like they just copied endor, it doesn't look like a jungle planet at all, and this is between two toatally different planets. I hope there will be a big difference between planets like Shola and Mustafar.-Stay true to canon. I know I mention this on every thread, stay true to the movies and a lesser extent EU. Rancors don't live on Tatooine.-A video option that lets you watch the battle from the bridge of some capital ships.-The ability to train the force sensitives to jedi (Luke, Leia, Mara, Kyle) Can probably think of more, will get back to this later. BFII put a lot of things in that the fans wanted, I hope they listen to the fans for the EAW expansion or EAW 2.
Zer_Teron Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 What happened to the rest of imperial high devoted officers ? ------------ Most of the Empire brightest minds where on the Executer when it was destroyed, the rest where on the Death Star II and I.Was the entire Imperial fleet completely destroyed ? --------- No, only a tenie tiny amount of the Imperial Fleet was at Endor Was the war over ? If No Who was the new leader of the Empire forces ? No, Sate Presteige Did Leia become a Jedi ? ------- Nope, she never had time to devote herself http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3488/zersigef1.jpg
AT-AP Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Hmm maybe its a new developemnt, months ago when I disscused it there was no clear plan. I think they've been spurred on by fans wanting more whenever they hear a unit will not be there. =P And, then there's Delphi's "Mustafar will find its place, in due time..." quote. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a242/CptK/StarCruiser.jpg
Nevets Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Did Leia become a Jedi ? ------- Nope, she never had time to devote herselfNot in the movies or not in any good EU. But option should be in the game, she was just a force sensitive as luke. "That boy was our last hope" "no there is another...".
Stellar_Magic Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Okay lets see... More units! (With the total number of feet units approaching the Warlords mod if not the same type, I don't mind additions to either sides armada) Hopefully I'd like to see the tech tree exteneded into the NJO era (With the removal of some Vong infuenced weaponary) but keep the conflict almost completely Rebel vs Imperial. Experience system if possible. I doubt we'll be able to mod it in, and it would probably require some changes to the game engine so I doubt we'll see this in an Expansion Pack. I could see it appear in a sequal however. Increased battlefield population cap to accomodate truly epic battles. Starfighters can enter atmospheric engagements much like any ground unit. I'd also like to see the inclusion of dedication Atmospheric Fighter craft like the Mark I model of the Z-95. Every planet has its heroes, thats right every planet! I want lots more heroes, some that could be created by the people at petroglyph. You'd think that each planet in imperial control would at least have its own planetary governor. More Planets, let's say five times the current number. This would be really easy if someone at Petroglyph created a random map generator, I mean some worlds look a lot like other worlds... But there are some specific worlds I'd like to see included if they aren't already: Qat Chrystac, Nkllon, Thyferra, Honoghr, Nar Shadaa, and Nal Hutta. A true transport loading and unloading system for capital ships. I really don't like the idea of starships spawning fighters during the game. Instead I think you should be forced to build them. This would also make it so you could customize the loadout of Star Destroyers. I mean, aren't there some situations where you'd rather have 6 Squadrons of Tie Bombers instead of only one or two? Also, I also think we should be able to deliver a limited number of ground troops from a starship. Nevets Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Basically what we are trying to say we want a Rebellion 2. Rebellion updated to a EAW level would truly be the greatest star wars (and probably any) strategy ever. The game itself didn't have much eye candy, but its gameplay was unmatched. If it had the eye candy of EAW.........*drools*
Teradyn_pff Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 I agree, with a little less micromanagment of missions. I could go through the game and have only 3 or 5 good battles, all other activity was diplomacy or sabotage... My Death Star is bigger than your Death Star!"The XML is strong with this one!"http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/0/teradyn.png
Nevets Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 I agree, with a little less micromanagment of missions. I could go through the game and have only 3 or 5 good battles, all other activity was diplomacy or sabotage... agreed. it was a little overbored, just a little too much. I was twelve when I got that game and it didn't overwhelm me that much. The lack of eye candy and too much micromanaging I think is why it didn't do so well. But if you look now, when this game came out everyone was like "YES! finally Rebellion 2" so it must have grabbed some fans along the way (it was easily the best star wars strategy game). Yes, it had the micromanagement was a bit tedious, but Petro is making it sound like it is the devil, its not, it added a lot to that game in moderation. I liked making fleets a deciding what fighters I want in each cap ship. The only thing that ever made me really mad were the assaination and sabotage attempts, no matter how many I sent, they would never sabotage or kill anyone. I think the "Rebellion 2" reaction to this game speaks volumes. Initially the game got bad reviews, but 8 years later people are still talking about it in a positive light. This is the star wars strategy target audience. They are trying to make it accessible to eveyone, but not everyone wants to play strategy, you should make a strategy game for the strategy players (who for sure will buy it) and then you will bring in people who thinks it looks like a cool game, it worked for me with rebellion and at the time I was far from a strategy player. Don't dumb down a game to appeal to other audiences, if you make a good game, others will come to it. *whew* sorry about that K back on topic, The force senstive trainees (mara, luke, leia and kyle) should also have the possibility to be pulled to either side, since atleast one time in their histories (except maybe leia) have been tempted by the different sides of the force.
Gen.Vader Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 i have to disagree with your # 6, if they included all that content that would be like another game, not xpack! but if they split it up with Ep4 and onwards, and then a diffrent xpack with Clone wars, then i could see that happening. I've have you now - Lord Vader
Wiking_pff Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 An XP system. In a game with persistent units, it's really really strange not to have that.
Nevets Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 -Being being able to recruit factions to your cause. The Hapes, The Naboo, Black Sun, The Hutts, Other Pirate factions... This can be done through Leia or Mon Mothma's diplomacy or Palpatine's coruption. They would help protect their sectors that are in your sphere of influence and sometimes come as reinforcements in other battles.-Bounty hunter heroes that either sider can purchase their services. (Bossk, 4-lom, IG-88) Would work better than the standard bounty hunter.
lordstorm88 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 I would just like it to end with the end of the empire. maybe expansions would have clone wars or the thrawn stuff(which I never really got to learn about ever). it should have many more planets, and a choice about the pop limit, maybe even to unlimited. and more ships, perhaps troops and heros, and the ability to build anywhere you want. generally more freedom.

Nevets Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Even that review that Cain posted in the preview section admits to something this game needs: its unfortunate: experience points or other role playing elements is missing in empire at war, all heroes already have all thier special abilities when they first appear. figures like han solo, luke skywalker or Boba fett can not be "trained". They get those abilities automatically if it is meaningful in the process of the story campaign like I said, definitely needs to add more roleplaying elements or it loses its atmosphere:clearly, with a star wars game, we expect a fantastic atmosphere, but empire at war still gives a little more than its battlefront and jedi knight counterparts.
Popcorn2008 Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Yeah if they would add the ability to recruit and train heroes it would be awesome. I would also love the ability to have some characters have the ability to betray their side. Such as Luke turning dark, or Vader turning light. But make it were some characters cannot, such as Yoda always stays good and sidious always stays bad. http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/3269/pffuserbar2globalmodnx9.jpg> Petroglyph Forums Moderator> LucasForums Moderator
