actually Delphi said in another site in a response to that sceenshot with the ven in, is that not only is in the game, it is on Multiplayer Mode avalible for both Imps and rebs.

QUOTE:QUOTE=Foshjedi2004]How do you explain the Imps firing on the Venator in this screen then??

Easy, outdated tech. When you say Star Destroyer in our game, I think you are referring to an ISD or Victory.

Also, that was more than likely taken during a MP game. Venitors are used by both sides in this mode.

FYI, here is my revised quote from the other board.

notice thw "while back" remark, meaning that it is a old SS and does not mean anything at this time.

I wanted to add that Delphi said 'were' implying that they are no more.

I think we can say that that confirms that they are out.

^ Umm...I hope you are wrong. When Delphi said 'were', I can only assume what he meant was when they were demonstrating that game for that screenshot. Given that the occurence when that screenshot was taken took place in the past, it is only proper grammar that one were to use past tense, not present tense.

Given that this topic is in all three major Empire at War Forums and a large number of Venator fans are extremely anxious, why haven't we heard any direct confirmation from Delphi that it is out? He sure has bluntly said the SSD was out when the topic was being discussed.

ok that means that delphi-PG is maintaining it is still in the game even though it has been removed from listing on the Official Site. but anyway the screenshot more than confirms its presence.

Did you even read what was posted?

he stated the SS is OLD meaning OLD hence the comment "a while back" so the SS does not mean or prove anything.

And delphi never said it was in the game or out, but hinted the info being used is old and that can mean anything.

So some of you are saything the the venator can be for both sides?

!@#$ not again.... I never though good old petroglyph would sink to pandemic's level and be so bold as to give a clone wars vehicle that belonged to the Empire and give it to the Rebels.

sheesh.... before you know it we might be seeing the Rebels with the LAAT (republic gunship)

Relax will you? You dont know how both sides get it in the first place. We know they might be or maybe not (waste of rendering a unit if its not in) so until we know HOW both sides get it then be the judge. Then judge the HOW with the quality of doing somethign to get it.

It isn't how they get it. It's that the rebs do have it. :? To say Star Destroyer is to say Empire, having the rebels with a venator it is just dumb. Besides even the New republic was reluctant to use ISDs because it would make them seem the same as the empire. Stupid I know, but true.

Tbh I dont recall anyone or even it mentioning it anywhere that the acclamator or the venator were named star destroyers? to me the true first star destroyer was the victory class the previous 2 were associated with the republic so you could see the early rebellion getting hold of a few I'm sure the entire republic navy wasent all for the empire.

The new republic did in fact utilise star destroyers in the conquest of borleas and courscant even wedge antillies ran his flag from the SSD Luskanya but prior to the black fleet crisis thats when the NR decided not to build any new SD.

i know this is mostly EU but the rebels imo would use what they could get their hands on so them using venators sounds fine to me.

yeah they decided not to build anymore but they still maintained a fleet of them and the Mon Mothma And Elego AK'la we both based on the SD's Designs.

Rebels with the LAAT

Already happened.

The Rebels use not only old units left over from the Republic/early Empire, but also some Imperial units: Dreadnaught-class frigates, Nebulon-B frigates, CR90 corvettes, AT-PTs, Juggernauts. Anything they can find that's not as well guarded. After Endor, they even caught Imperial-class destroyers.

The Venator is, but the Acclamator isn't.

In the ROTS: Incredible Cross-sections the Venator's article said that its production was slowing down in favor of the Imperator (later renamed Imperial) and Tector classes. The first Imperator was commisioned only days after the Clone Wars ended and the second participated in the Subjugation of Kashyyyk only six weeks after war's end. (Ironically, when Delphi talks about "outdated tech", he's referring to a model only one or two years older than the Imperial-class, although development through a war can rapidly outdate early models, even though the time-scale isn't big.)

The Acclamator really ins't a star destroyer but why not? It's huge, grey, and triangular therefore a star destroyer

its not a Star Destroyer. if it was it would be listed as one the Acclamator is a Landing Craft for Starts , it cant really do Orbital Bombardments and isn't any good without support from Heavy Capital Ships. there for it is NOT a Star Destroyer!

The Republic attack cruiser, or Star Destroyer, gave this new starfleet its considerable teeth. The wedge-shaped warship was not primarily a cargo transport, troop carrier or other replenishment or supply vessel; it was developed and honed for ship-to-ship combat. Its huge armored shape had an aggressive, dagger-like profile, studded with heavy weapons emplacements capable of punching through powerful shields and sturdy armor. From its twin elevated conning towers, the crew of clones and other Republic military officers oversaw the craft's operations.

The acclamator wasn't a star destroyer because it was primarily a troop carrier and wasn't that well armed.

Wouldn't be the first and wont be the last time a video game made a mistake. usually it leads to the EU people trying to tie it into the EU by saying it was an upgraded version which is probably the case here. Any way it is just lazy and usually leads to more crappy EU.
