Also, we see X-Wings parked in a planet's surface, so they can be inside a planet in EaW??, or maybe it's just a mission

A lot of those updates seemed like they were rushed out (a-wing video, mon calamari crusier, and x-wing videos barely showed them in action). Plus no pictures of the battlefields for the new planets?

 

Did anyone else notice the "you cause" on one of the building discriptions?

A clear sign of programmers put the akward position of having to write something that will be seen by the public.

 

Anyway, I think this points toward the release of the demo fairly soon.

Nice new screenshots and videos and well at least we got an update which is better then nothing Seriously though at least you got more media to look at Well I saw that the X-Wings are landed on the ground so that means the Tie Fighters will do the same? Only the bombers will come down through the atmosphere?

Nice videos, although there was not much action. I could not help but notice that the Venator has not made its way back onto the list of space units. Since it was not one of the videos released that raises my level of concern as to whether it will actually make its way into the final release of the game.

These videos do look a little rushed. Maybe they could be busy working a something a little bigger.... like the DEMO !!! Im worried about Yavin IV... it doesn't look... jungle-ish enough. It does look a lot like Endor as someone suggested though.

 

And I believe the X-Wings taking off from the ground could have been from the mission where you steal the prototypes. That's probobly why it says you're victorious as soon as they take off.

But it would be cool if you could keep fighters on a planet. Enemy does an espionage of one of you most important planets, see no fleets or defence guns. Moves in and is blown apart by 200 squadrons of TIE Fighters and 100 Squadrons of TIE Bombers

The GeForce 4 doesn't work with DirectX 9. The first geforce card to work is the 5200, I believe. Looking at newegg, they seem to be about $40 for a 5200fx 128mb card (if you are willing to spend a bit more, newegg also has a considerably better 5500fx 256mb eVGA card for $50. I have a 128mb version of that on my sister's computer, and I can vouch that it packs a punch, particularly for its price). I am not quite sure why they mentioned T&L, as I am 99% sure there are no Dx9 cards without T&L.

 

Back to topic, even if you could keep fighters on a planet, could you keep enough to make it worth while?

the GeForce 6600GT 128mb or 256mb are the best bang for your buck cards, with the release of the new 512 cards the prices should be dropping off a bit more too. As a 6600GT owner, i can say i am extremely happy with its performance, never had any problems, can run everything out today in High (some memory related things on medium, i've only got the 128mb)

If you are gonna upgrade for EAW, a geforce 6 would be the way to go, all the DX9 support with pixel and vertex shaders 2.0+

 

As for fighters on a planet, of bloody course you should be able to keep alot there!

what if the battle of britain had been fought using carrier based planes only? when you have hundreds of square kilometers to make airfeilds.

 

Fighters on standby on the surface should be a seperate unit limit

for example: 20 squads/platoons/wings on:

on Planet: Ground - 20

Air/Space 20

Orbit: capital ships (with fighters) 20

stations (with fighters) 20

 

that make sense to anybody else?

Or is there no limit to the number of ships you can have in orbit or to the number of troops you can have on the ground?

Am I correct in assuming that there will be a SP skirmish map, and a MP skirmish map as well?

 

EDIT: that clip with the x-wings taking off, and the sign YOU ARE VICTORIOUS...could that be the mission where you have to steal the X-wings?

lol same i loved this update and the addition of so much Rebel stuff just makes me want the demo even more! the Mon Cal crusier looks amazing but i wish that some more of it was videos.

welcome DonBilbo if you download the Macromedia Player that it tells you to the just wait and click at the bottom of the screen on the thing you want the when that screen show up just click where it says Click here for image or Video(some are large images) and there you go you get the images.

the creatures: bothans, geonosians and rancor

the troops: kyle katarn, darth vader and plex soldiers

the armies: AT-ST and TIE Mauler

the fleets: corellian corvette, imperial star destroyer and tie scout

the weapons: hypervelocity gun and bombing runs

the planets: Byss, Endor, Jabiim and Shola....

 

so, there aren't the new videos EJM was talking of....
