Now to get back to my question about the interdictors, I was discussing whether the Interdictor gravity wells will act like they did in Rebellion where they kept the enitre system locked up or if there will be a ring, like the ring that appears here http://www.eaw-fr.com/screen/eaw/137.jpg around the planet and hyperspace travel within that ring is restricted.

Also, will the gravity wells be targetable, allowing for the simple disabling of the wells without having to blow the entire ship up.

any comments on this?

I believe I have read somewhere that you have to manually toggle the gravity wells on and off. Is this true? Do you do it from the galactic map or from the battle itself.

If so, this will make trapping a much harder game. It would be great for searching for and destroying smaller enemy fleets untill you could hunt down their main one.

maybe the gravity wells have to be turned off if you want your ships to retreat. It would make sense. you come out of hyperspace and the rebels are too powerful and you have to click off the gravity wells before you can escape yourself.

First off: to popcorn, this topic went way off-topic so I didn't post here. 2) it was about how you could use the interdictor to make all kinds of thrawn like strategies not how it worked.

I think the moderators have become a little overzealous. It's one thing to lock up a topic about the SSD or B-wing and interceptor. it's another to lock a topic because it uses the same word as another topic even if the resulting discussions were completely different.

are these forums going to degenerate into one topic for each ship and if you have any questions about the ship you post in the topic with the name of that ship? relax on the locking, guys.

Okay, it does appear as this topic has been off topic and unrelated to what you were going to discuss. Sorry for the confusion, im still adjusting to moderating here so im sorry for the locking. I'll go ahead and split this into its own topic so you dont have to deal with the cluttering of this thread.

thank you, popcorn. I've been here since this forum started. I've been a moderator on IRC channels and let's just say I wasn't the best of them. I'm glad you undestand, I hope there aren't hard feelings.

In homeworld the gravity well was designed to stop missiles but In X-wing Alliance, in the mission with Luke, the only way to get rid of the interdictor was for the squadron to fire it's missiles at the thing.

IT IS CONFIRMED!!! GRAVITY GENERATORS ARE TARGETABLE!!

if you watch the ISD movie right at the beginning a deep voice clearly stats "our gravity well generators have been destroyed".

So here's to all the rebel strategists who need to get away.

From what I've read in the EU novels, the gravity wells don't generate gravity in the shape of rings, but of cones. And firing proton torps or concussion missiles would be the most plausible way of destroying them, IMO.
