Grand Admiral Thrawn 889 Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 R1ob7 please look at your spelling and Grammer i cannot understand what you have typed. http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n292/Admiral_Antilles/Thrawncopy.jpghttp://img525.imageshack.us/img525/3269/pffuserbar2globalmodnx9.jpg I Support the Resistance!
Darkmark Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Actually it's a mixture of both. You can survive for short peroids of time in space before dying, but that margin is very small. Probably the space of time Jan suggested before consciousness was lost, but even after the first 5-8 seconds in space you're in need of serious medical attention. I can't recall off hand whether this is because of R1ob7's explaination, but I seem to recall something about the external temperatures being the first thing to kill you. The common sci fi falacy is that you explode in space. Oh yes, and welcome to the forums, R1ob7. Grand Admiral Thrawn 889 Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 yeah i always wonder why Spacing was called EXPLOSIVE DECOMPRESSION maybe bacuase you lungs explode with lack of Air! http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n292/Admiral_Antilles/Thrawncopy.jpghttp://img525.imageshack.us/img525/3269/pffuserbar2globalmodnx9.jpg I Support the Resistance!
R1ob7 Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Yea and you know there’s also an edit button and private messages. If you have a problem with what I wrote you could of PMed me and asked me politely to edit my message instead of being a jerk and trying to make me look like a fool. It’s just as annoying when someone makes a post saying check your spelling as it is when someone makes a poorly written post(which I am constantly guilty of). Heck just PM them about it. All your doing is flooding the boards and pissing people off. Now that I edited my message will you delete your posts now that your post is moot? Thanks for welcomeing me to the fourms. I know that happened (blood boiling) to a Russian crew returning from one of the first Russian Space stations. There was a crack in the heat shield and it made a pinhole leak in the spacecraft on reentry and all the air was sucked out in the upper atmosphere when they found the spacecraft the comonaughts were dead but everything else looked fine. When they examined the body all they found was that their blood was gone. From piecing together info the figured out that because of the leak the pressure dropped to such an extent where their blood actually boiled. Other things in space will be that your Ears will explode, (because they are pressure sensitive). Your Lungs will collapse, and not to mention the effects of Radiation will have. If you are in direct Sunlight you'll fry if there is no son you'll freeze.
Darkmark Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Calm down, I don't think anyone was suggesting you were looking like a fool, or was even on that wavelength. There's no point flying off the handle at what Grd. Adml Thrawn 889 said, it was merely a harmless request. R1ob7 Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Yea I'm sorry I get that a lot and its because a lot of time I just don't have the time to check what I write, and 2 whenever I see it in a forum it just bugs me because I've seen people in an argument just say well at least I know how to spell and the topic devolves into an English debate. Also it bugs me too because a lot of people who read and post in English langue forums speak English as a second or third langue and some times people can be insensitive to that.
Grand Admiral Thrawn 889 Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 sorry but i had to say that on the forum i wasnt being a jerk i was stating a fact. i've also had it done to me before recently i was warned by a MODERATOR because of it i ws trying to keep you out of trouble. but sorry i wont do it again. Welcome to the forums! http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n292/Admiral_Antilles/Thrawncopy.jpghttp://img525.imageshack.us/img525/3269/pffuserbar2globalmodnx9.jpg I Support the Resistance!
JanGaarni Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Like Darkmark said, the common fallacy is that you will explode in space. This is not true. You'll swell up, but that's it. Of course you'll fry if you are exposed to the sun, and of course you'll freeze if not. And even if you are still within the space suit, your blood will probably start to boil aswell. But it's not instant. That's the point I wanted to get to. You won't fry instantly with contact with the sun.You won't freeze instantly, because heat doesn't dissipate that quickly from the body. And your blood won't boil instantly upon contact with space vacuum. In fact, as long as the system (blood system) is still running, and the pressure is kept up above the minimum needed, your blood won't boil at all. And you certaintly won't explode.Unless you have very, very weak skin. Your lungs will not explode because of lack of air.It will collapse, but not explode. If you want to damage your lungs in space (or vacuum for that matter), just hold your breath. http://www.lfnetwork.com/images/lfnlinker.gifStar Wars: Empire at War.Net Moderator&SWGalaxies Moderator Co-Leader of The Affiliates! -A-- What we do in life, echoes in eternity!- May the pants be with you!
