yeah it looks as if there's a bunch of EU haters in here, your intitled to you opinons but it maynot be "real"star Wars but its not Fan Fiction either Fan Fiction is written by some High Schooler who thinks that they are good at it. but the EU is written primarily by Sci-fi writers that have been pre approved by Lucas.

Well, the problem is that Lucas doesn't even hold true to his first works. It is kind of like rounding something off way too early in a mathematical work. The error that exists is amplified exponentially by the time you get to the "solution". This is my view on the EU. It is of course ok for entertainment as all fan fiction should be, but I disagree with any of it being considered canon. Know what I mean? Even Lucas violates his own canon. Just because he wrote it in the first place doesn't mean that contradicting himself is anything but that.

Anyhoo. I think that we all have our opinion of EU and I think that any debate about how valid or invalid it is is moot. I don't consider EU canon, but I do think that EU should be used (where it fills in gaps in the previous stories, nothing more) instead of brand new made up stuff, like the Broadside... etc.

i think i know where your comming from with the Contradicting himself Teradyn i personally disagree with the Midi-chlorians thingy but really the EU doesnt even encorporate this idea i wish that they'd take it out of the Film but other than that i don't dislike the last 3 films. or the EU.

Well, fortunatly for the rest of us, you don't decide what is canon and what is not. :)

Lucasfilm Ltd. policy decides, and states this.

In fact, there is no such thing as Canon and EU any more. It's just G-level canon, C-level canon, and S-level canon, in that order of importance.

Wikipedia Still Rocks, regardless of the current events.

G-level: George Lucas stuff

C-level: Everything EU that isn't contradicted by g-level

S-level: Old stuff that has elements that have now changed

Secondary Source.

However, I strongly dissagree with this decission, as I believe anything mentioned first takes presedence above anything that is published later, unless the later publication is more accurate or more believable.

But that's my opinion, and personal opinions don't count so I'll have to live with it. :)

"N-canon" isn't actually canon .

With that being said, it's clear that there are several subtypes of C-canon, with books being the most important, RPGs/comics the second most, and games the least.

I like the word "canon." It's such a loaded word.

Well, it's not like it's divided into "This book is C-level, that book is S-level".

It's more like each individual reference in that book is defined as perhaps C-level, other parts are S-level, while some stuff might be completely N-level cause it contradicts a higher canon level. Some books even have G-level canon, which is the highest level of canon there is (stands for George if you haven't figured it out yet :) ), unless it's contradicted by the movies themselfs.

Hence, while most of the Holiday Specials are considered N-Canon, it still has elements in it that is C-Canon, or even G-Canon.

Anyway, this is getting very off-topic here, so if you want to read more about this, LucasForums has a very good explaination on it here.
