I still think there'll be an expansion showing at least the rest of the original trilogy. It's almost guaranteed since there is a demand for the ships.

As to why I don't care much for mods here's a list of reasons:

1) balance. If someone built the SSD they'll give it the weapons of the SSD even if it means nothing except a fleet of cruisers could destroy it and even then there would be huge loses for the rebels. Sometimes realism isn't necessary.

2) looks. If you made any ship with too many or too few polygons it will show up instantly and I like my ships to all look like they're from the same universe.

3) you get more than just added ships in an expansion. You get more characters, missions, and planets, too.

4) the casual gamer doesn't like to have to scrounge around for mods and it's just easier to get an expansion.

5) an expansion is more than just an add-on. it shows that the makers are dedicated to giving the gamers more and typically all they ask for when they add all this stuff is just another $30.

Well looks like it is official, clone wars expansion.

Now how does that play within the EAW time-line?

I have been wondering that myself. It would be very interesting to be able to play all the way from the clone wars through the OT, but like I have said be for the logistics of that would be a nightmare. To many what-ifs and probably not enough licensing.

So I would think it would be more a long the lines of two seperate campains, the clone campaigns and the ANH campaign. but that really wouldn't be an expansion, but an entirely new game. So that could be what you are getting at

Of course a true "expansion" would be to expand the timeline of the game to an ROTJ, but with the exclusion of the clone wars planets I'm thinking the game will be expanding backwards.

can you just tell us what you meant?

How hard is this to understand? From those three posts I've managed to gather that Mustafar (and by default other PT planets) will be in an expansion pack continuing the EAW timeline.

I concur, does the guy have to spell it out? Jeez, when I made my first text based C++ game for class, I had to almost spell out the programming too. luckily I got an A on it. Damn right I should have, too, because everyone else did crappy blackjack and I did a 3 level dungeons and Dragons type game.

If he means a clone wars expansion, I'd think Petroglyph would design the game with the ability to operate various campaigns, for example one of them being "Galactic Civil War Campaign", and another being the "Clone Wars Campaign".

It makes perfect sense because it makes adding expansions a lot easier.

I'm sorry Nevets, the idea seems noble.. but unless you are playing as a non-Imperial faction (like the Ssi-ruuvi, or Chiss) which 99.9% chance will never be in a LucasArts game, there is really no point to keep playing after you win one of the campaigns.

Let's say you beat the prequel campaign, now you have a few years to build up like crazy until the "rebels emerge." When Mon Mothma proclaims the Rebel Alliance, you are able to crush her with your thousands of fleets.. now you could say "but the true Rebels *did* beat those kind of odds," and you would be right, except that the player would *know for sure* the Rebels are coming and would prepare for it, and wouldn't be as foolish as the Emperor.

i agree with Igor here that's right but if your playing an expansion the other way and fight the Imp Remnant and the Yuuzhan Vong then its difficult to do.

Yea that is exactly what I am saying, It would be really hard to make a game like that. It would be too open ended to work, and things could be changed so much that it wouldn't be star wars anymore.

Like if at the end of the clone wars campaign the CIS win and they take over the galaxy. Who would fight them later? Would Ani and Padme still be together and have the twins? And then start a new rebellion against the CIS (Being lead by the emperor? Dooku? Or Grevious). Or if the republic doesn't collapse and the jedi order still survive and the CIS is defeated, who would be their enemy later?

Definitely not a game possible at this time. Maybe some years down the road, would definitely be fun to play.

So yea if they want to extend the timeline it would be through ROTJ and just use the clone wars planets as a selling point. I guess that could make sense, would really like to see that.

If the CIS won the war Palapatine would of delceared himself emperor with Dooku and Greviece as his right hand men. There would of been a rebellion led by Jedi because in all likelyhood the clones would not of been able to turn on the Jedi in fact they probaly would of been slaughtered. And probaly there would of been a stronger rebellion.

yeah that would be good and thats a good point about it wouldn't work for an expansion because how many changes need to be made but going through the ROTJ BIt and after its set so they just have to pick a crisis and run with it be it the Remnant coming back or a Vong invasion (Which id love to play).

I personally would prefer an expansion that adds Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi story, units, ships, etc. to the game. Then maybe add some EU stuff, but im not too into that.

Well, the real trick will be whether or not LoW will get the episode V and VI content put in before they release an expansion that does?

Remember that they will want to milk the release as long as they can before putting out an expansion and for a mod group, delays are terminal.

yeah true but we can always just re-install the game after the Expansion come out if the LoW Mod interferes with it.
