i agree with Naja, most people who have seen star wars want the rebels to win, and want to see them win, so that's what you see in the movies.

 

It all comes down to selling the game, if most people want to see the rebels wining every fight, then that's what they will see.

Yeah and you won't believe how many people will probably try to play the Rebels and expect to own and then get slaughtered. Then they'll either complain about balance or whatever. I think that the Rebel fleets we have seen so far may be a bit on the large side, especially for early on in a scenario.

I hate how they seem to be dumbing down this game. I want complexity in the game. More and more it is seeming like it could be another star wars RTS flop. Ah well I am still getting it just because I need another star wars strategy games, and I can't wait for the modders to get into this to add complexity (yea I know they are trying to make it more accessible, but they are taking it to the extreme).

 

Edit: the sad thing is, we are the extreme fan-bois saying this, I think if this game is how it is sounding, the average gamer is going to rip into this. I hope I'm wrong, I want an awesome Star Wars strategy game, not just another RTS.

 

and I disagree, as far as star wars gaming goes (with the exception of SWG) most people play imperial. At least that is what I have experienced.

Hmm it actually does look like the scouts set up a trap for the Tank but did barely any damage.

 

Maybe these are anti-infantry mines, like known from C&C: Red Alert (anti-tank and anti-infantry mines)

IMO that the screens so far are from right at the end of the game.

 

IMO at the start the Rebels will have the Corellian Corvette, Nebulon-B , the Galofree Med Transport, Y-wing and Maybe the Headhunter.

 

The Imps will have the Ep3 units, Tartan Cruiser and TIE Fighter and TIE Recon. The Imps will have greater stuff bbut will probably take longer to get to the next research grade while the Rebels will steal loads of tech quite quickly allowing them to get the basis.

 

Rebel Fleets were usually a MC80, a MC40, Nebulon-B, 3 Corellian Corvettes and 2 Gunships.

 

Imperial Ships were constructed to work in small groups of 1 or 2 ISDs with support craft. That is why I am so surprised not to see Carrack Cruisers. They were an Integral part of the Imp Fleet system.

People keep forgeting that all these abilities are on a long timer, IE Imp Star Destroyer can deploy a load of really understrength ties every couple of minutes or more, AT-AT can do same but with Stormies

That's exactly what I said a few posts up. People are going to want the Rebels to win and so they'll play Rebels. From the videos shown the Rebels have large fleets and own the Imperials (mostly). Early in the game however the Rebels will be mainly trying to conserve their forces and will not be able to come out in battle as often. More than likely you'll have to accept loses early on when playing as the Rebels. Other people won't see that though.

Funny because its true ,well not the idiot part but lets just say braindead during posting. Well yes it may sound bad now but just wait until you actually get your hands on the game in one form or another then judge the game. Trailers are just to get you all hyped up and well to also get information but not 100% information.

I thought fraps was only capable of recording games, not existing .avi files. If someone could give me the video though, I could cut it in adobe to the relevant parts and export using divx. I tried, but I couldn't get my hands on the video. I can watch it, sure. Just not store it on my hard drive.

 

Oh, and even if I did that, someone would still need to host it. What with our own videos now up, my own site hasn't got the additional space for it.

I think that the rebels should be stronger on a unit to unit basis. Like if 2 equel forces went up aginist eachother the Rebels should win the battle, however I think that the Empire units will be a lot cheaper than the rebels and they will always outnumber the rebels so you won't see early on the Rebels being able to fight the empire.

In all the game clips so far, they have only shown little parts of the battles. At the beggining of the game, things will make up for the rebels units being a little more powerful. The empire will have more resources, making it a little more even. There are other things too that we have heard about but not actually seen on a video because there hasn't been enough time to show it. All that we have seen are little battles, not the the big picture or stratagy.

Their Capital ships arent better, two MCs could barely take on an Imperial Star Destroyer, and the Nebulan B is the perfect escort.

well yes two Mc-80s could just over power an ISD 1 by using superior tactics but i think the nebulon b1 frigate is more of a support vessel. now for escort you want the nebulon b2 (not in game T_T)

but IN game ya the nebulon b will be the escort vessel of the alliance

Well not all Imperial units are weak. AT-AT for example was meant for assaults under heavy fire so it wont be like a tin can in a firing range. It also carried Luke to Vader on Endor and well they wouldn't of just let him be escorted by 1 squadron of Stormtroopers to Vader since they could of been easily jumped.

 

Star Destroyers are beasts in space also and also not tin cans since you need to conquer both land and space to have supreme control. Wouldn't the Empire look funny if they got destroyed by pirates that are very skilled ?
