I am still analyzing the lists some on the EAW site and am now thinking about the two topics posted in the title.

 

One is abandoned facilities:

 

- Will this be primarily used by the Rebels since they would eat this stuff up? Will this be what the rebels start off with?

- Could be that not every planet is under someones control at start (seems farily likely) and on some planets this is already there for you imp or imperial.

 

Cantinas:

 

-Hmm I wonder what this could be used for? Logic says it would be used to rejuvenate your troops. Could be to keep moral of your troops up as well, but I doubt something like this is in game. Problem with the health thing is that there is already a bacta facility.

 

-I wonder if there is different skins for this on different planets. I can understand the Jabba's palace being used on different planets (except maybe Coruscant) but if they use say the mos eisley cantina on say Hoth, it just would now look right.

I also wonder what will happen to facilites not destroyed during the battle. For instance, can the rebels capture a planet that's equiped with a hypervelocity gun and use it against the empire? Can the imperials do the same?

 

This could also lead to a kind of scortched earth retreat. like you know you're losing the planet so you turn your guns on your own buildings so that the Imps don't get them. Could be a damning tactic.

 

as for the cantina, I read that that may be the place your pilots come from. I guess everyone could use a drink after they staired down an ISD and lived to tell about it.

Interesting, Yea I wouldn't want one of those guns falling into enemy guns. The EAW site says it is an imperial weapon, but if the Rebels take over the planet and its still there you should be able to use it.

 

Hmm interesting thing on the pilots, but I would think smugglers would be the ones you would expect to find there. But I also think they could come from the Hutt Palace, but if only one unit can come from each I would think Bounty Hunters would come from there. But then what is the Mercenary Outfitter for? :lol:

Maybe the cantina could be like a research building. Ok, so not exactly like a true research building, but more like commercial upgrades.

Things to improve the resource gathering rates of a planet maybe. It's hard to say, they haven't really said very much on the purpose of the building.

I think it would be better as a commercial station bringing in income, over a pilot pick up place. Don't think cantinas would be able to finance your empire, but it would sure make more sense then having your fleet full of drunk spacers :wink:

Cantina could be used for those Female Twi'lek Dancers ;) The abandoned facility could be used by both sides since its the players choice to choose right? But mostly the Rebel AI would use it then an Imperial AI but I might be mistaken.

Who'd want to leave a cantina full of female Twi'lek dancers? :shock::D

I'm hoping that the cantina will be a multipurpose building. Maybe, as others have said, for research and the ability to hire smugglers.

Smugglers and bounty hunters sounds pretty likely, although we do have the Hutt Palace for that, so who knows.

 

A long time ago, in an interview far, far away, I recall hearing that cantinas are y our general purpose recruitment buildings.

 

What that translates into eludes me. Perhaps this means that you have a "base" recruitable body that you need before you can begin constructing ground units?
