First of all, hi everybody! its my first time posting eventhough i´ve reading this forum for at least a month.

I have a doubt about the imperial star destroyer... how does it fire it lasers? in previous videos i noticed that the ship had four canons on each side... but in the trailer that is on the new site.

i noticed that the ship fired almost from everywhere from its hull...

acordingly to tie fighter and xwings games (and some more) the isd fired from lasercannons dispersed on its hull....

are the big cannons used only angainst capital ships?

o i got it all wrong and that cannons are ions cannons?

please forgive my english...

im not from an english spoken country

Only Eville Jedi put a cannon where every single gun on a ship was...

I think theyre going for good framerates over excessive detail.

I agree, that would be a major reason to cut out a bunch of turrets

it may be an option too, in the details menu

either way, i approve of this choice, i'd rather have higher frame rates than a few extra turrets i'm never going to actually look at (unless you can view your fleets in orbit without combat, then a viewing i will go)

Even if they only draw in the turbo lasers, the smaller anti fighter guns might be too small (in comparison with the rest of the massive ship) to bother modeling them in 3D and wasting polygons that could go towards making the ship itself look better

and even if its true/untrue, modders will come in and make it all alright for everybody :)

On the ISD Mark I there are 4 heavy turrets on either side of the super structure (8 in total). They are all dual barreled. The three foremost on both sides are heavy turbolaser cannons, totalling to 12 guns of this type. The 1 in the back on either side are Heavy Ion Cannons, totalling to 4 guns. These are in addition to the 60 or so normal Turbolasers.

On the Mark II the rear Heavy Ion Cannons have been replaced with Heavy Turbolaser batteries. The turrets have also been upgraded. Each large turret now consist of 2 four barreled turrets again, totalling to 64 guns. These are in addition to the 100 or so normal Turbolaser cannons. Each gun fires a bolt that is less powerfull than on the previous ISD model (the mkI), but the number of guns compared to the older version, and the fact each group of 4 guns can operate on their own and target a ship in slightly different directions make up for this.

On both versions even a glancing hit from one of these guns' turbolaserbolts is a killer blow to any starfighter.

i don´t expect to be every turbolaser modelled! thats a waste of a computer resources!

i tried to say that in the firsts videos the isd only shot from those big guns! and now from every part! i like this change because it makes more "realistic" ...

Welcome to the forums, ralphman, and true, the earlier videos showed Mon Cals and ISD's shooting with only 2-6 cannons at a time. The new video shows an ISD firing with perhaps all of its cannons, for one of these reasons:

1. Petroglyph is still polishing the game. It's possible they made cap ships shoot with more cannons to make battles seem more chaotic.

2. Cap ships use only their largest cannons to shoot other cap ships, and use the smaller ones to shoot fighters.

3. The ISD in the new video had enemies in every direction, thus it could bring all of its weapons to bear, using the left side cannons on the enemies on the left and the right side cannons on the enemies on the right.

Go Leafs go!

What is this video? I am very, very excited :) that Petroglyph has decided to stop falsely representing the Imperial Star Destroyer as a peashooter (cough cough every SW game from before) when all sources indicate it has more than 2-6 turbolasers capable of firing at once.

I hate these people. The ISD did not have big giant turrets on each side of its superstructure. It had 100 Heavy Turbolasers scattered around the hull, 50 of them in tight 5 Laser Batteries, also 20 Ion cannons scattered

Don't hate people, love them! :D

In order for there to be hardpoints, there has to be banks of four. The four weapons will pack a punch though. I think that there are more than four on each side though...

Send the TIE fighters to take out the Y-Wings at all cost. Even if it means suicide for the TIE fighters -- I can replace several TIE squadrons from the Star Destroyer's fighter bay. While this is occuring, the Star Destroyer should keep distance from the Mon Cal in order to make sure the Hangar Bay remains intact so replacement fighters can be launched while the Y-Wings are taken care of.

I know this doesn't have to do with weapons on the ISD, but it does pertain to the ISD. From what I can read into this (this quote is from the military academy http://swempireatwar.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=526), the ISD will be able to make new fighters in the middle of a battle. Is it just me reading it weird or what?

Anyway now I'm sure that the hanger bay will be the first hardpoint I hit on ISD's when I play the game just to be safe.

Um....Yes Yes it infact DID have guns on on each side. Infact you can see them in some of the movie screens. So yeah not only are you wrong but you hate people for making it right.

The Model used in the films disagrees with you

This is from the ISD MKII, four heavy turbolaser turrets with 8 guns each. These are the most powerfull weapons on the ISDII.

Ok, forgive my ignorance, but what is actually fired out of those cannons?

Are they basically just super-powerful turbolasers?

Those are the heavy turbolaser cannons. Everything else medium and light turbolasers and point defense guns.

I personally think they've got a good balance there. It doesn't seem overpowered to me, but at the same time seeing them in battles they seem to retain the 'feel' weapons wise as the films.

I think a debate over it having more realistic array of weaponry is much better suited to game mods than the game as it stands.
