Improving the Forums

I have spent a lot of times on forums, and this seems to be a pretty good on. I just have some ideas to improve it a bit:

 

1) Come up with a better rule on Spamming, don't just out right ban people on it. Send them an email letting them know. Set up an offense thing. 1st offense 1 day ban, 2nd a week ban, 3rd an IP ban.

 

2) The key to a sucessful/ quick moving forum is usually the less forums the better. The more general the forum usually the better. When a certain genre of topics take over the forum then a new forum should be considered.

 

My opinions:

 

-The EAW forums are fine the way they are, but you should be able to discuss anything relating to EAW in them, this means how Petro and LEC relate to the game.

 

-The P-02 forum could be turned into a Petrogames forum, meaning all petro endevors could be discussed there. And once p-02 becomes more prevalent it could have its own forum.

 

-The Bar should only be used for everything that does not hve a forum (so no EAW, Petro, Star Wars, Games...)

 

-I don't see why the Bestine Cantina can't be part of the bar. Perhaps this can be renamed the Mos Eisley Cantina. A place for posters to let their hair down. Losely moderated, can allow for posters to rant, let off steam, no one complaining about your spelling or grammer, spam to an extent, maybe some debates, no flaming. ( also a useful place to ban a person for awhile, if they have done something wrong, but not deserving of a ban)

 

-I think the Star Wars forums can be combined to one be General Star Wars forums. A place where we can go to talk about the movies, and EU vs Canon.

 

- Game and Gaming events can be combined into one forum called "Computers and Gaming". If there are game events they can be stickied on the top.

 

3) More consenus by Mods on what is and isn't proper forum ediquette. Seems right now that most do their own things that are not listed in the rules. Good job on the rules by the way, the less the better usually. There is that one no one follows any more about asking Dev questions since Delphi has shown up, but that isn't a big deal

Nevets I was campaigning for ages to get those sorts of Changes Made. However I think that these points should be discussed By the Staff, Not in an open forum.

1) Spammers have been warned but didn't listen so why should we warn them that they have been banned? Its like telling a criminal you'll punish him twice then ban him from the city. Besides we warn these spammers and trolls so why should we.

 

2) I think its all good since each topic has a meaning.

 

Your opinion

 

1) It could get its own forum once its around just have to wait to have enough information on it before we jump the gun.

 

2) Thats what the Bar is used for. Aint my fault nobody posts in the Bestine Cantina now is it? I cant force them to read my thing since that would be just stupid. All I did was have it as humor forum but no people have to go to the bar and General then leave and be up-tight.

 

3) Games and Event should be seperate please, theres enough events to support it Seriously theres about 3 more coming up. Well thats if anybody continues the 1/3 then 2/3 and I come in 3/3.

 

4) Thanks for your feedback and will talk with Cain and see how we can "improve" the fan forums Still we'll be moving so whats the point

 

5) edit: oh and PM Cain for stuff since i'm only the admin of the Fan moderator group Serious stuff Cain does since I dont want to get in trouble again

Eh, I'm just throwing around ideas. Just things I have noticed on other forums. Also didn't PM this since I was interested in others feedback and their ideas.

fair enough and those are good ideas Nevets i'll support the Changes.

but where are the Forums Moving to then?
