Hmm, no Dreadnaught either...

... :?

This seems like it should have been in as well. It fits the timeline and fits the armies. It has also been in pretty much ever star wars game that it could have fit in previously. Why make up something like the Tartan Patrol crusier, when an already pre-established and recognizable ship would fit in its spot perfectly.

I don't know, I don't think the needed to make up so many new ships, when the Star Wars Universe is so full and diverse with ships as it it.

*sigh*

thank god for mods.

I say the Devs need to do a little more legwork and save themselves the trouble of actually coming up with ships that can fill in roles that are already filled in by ships that are in the Universe.

Dreadnaughts for one, are Pre-Clone Wars. Definitely HAS to be in, otherwise Petroglyph will end up pissing off a lot of SW purists out there.

maybe its Lucasarts limiting Petroglyphs unit list? Well they have to get thier source from somewhere without "messing" up the list so its gets approved by Lec. Yup thank god for modding but the problem is getting yourself a modder to moddle the unit(s) in.

Since mine is anime nobody wants to moddle mine in :( But if its star wars everybody mods it right away........

They'd probably need like 4 expansions to put all the Star Wars ships :D

But then again, with so many ships, your management bar(the thing on the bottom of the screen with maps and stuff) will be so overcrowded

I'm not a particualr fan of dreadnaught, but i do think they could have added a bit more variety

Hmm, but why would LEC not allow ships like the dreadnaught when LEC has approved it for quite a few other games.

which could be what they are going for. And exactly my point, there are so many Star Wars ships out there that there is no need for new ships to be made up.

if Petro is actually going for that ideaof putting numerous expansions, i dun really think that such a good idea, because i don't want to spend $100+ worth of money for addition of units and some storylines.. We have modders for that

We have designs, Lucas didn't want them in. We actually have over 50, but they were cut down for quality. We'd rather have ships that are fun and have unique tactical abilities than munging in ships for the sake of having them because they fit the time-line. :D

LEt me guess, Expansion Packs. You'll get your Dreadnaught, SSD, and all sorts of never before seen units.

well that makes sense.

but wow 50, I hope the eventually make it in someday. Sure a game could be fun, but it is adding diversity that extends its life (which I think is what you guys are going for with the modability).

but Delphi, if you had looked at Rebellion's unit list you would have seen the ships everyone was waiting for.

take out the ISD 2 and Vic 2, and put in the Venator and Acclamator.

skip over all the transports except the rebel Medium transport and probably the Star Galleon for the imps.

you could leave out the Liberator, Dauntless, and SSD and there you go, you've got all the ships you needed.

when you guys come back for an epansion, e-mail me, I'll tell you what to put in if you can't decide.

here's the list after my modifications:

Imperials:

Tie Fighter

Tie Bomber

Tie interceptor

Tie scout

Caps:

carrack for light anti-fighter work.

Lancer for heavy anti-fighter work

Imperial Dreadnaught for cheap escort frigate

acclamator for heavy transport

Victor-class for light-medium assault + fighters

Venator for medium-heavy assault, mainly fighter carrier.

Imperial-Class is the big boy

Rebels:

Z-95 (if you really want the player to steal the X-wing)

A-wing

B-wing

X-wing

Y-wing

correllian corvette for light, fast anti-fighter work

correllian gunship (cigar shaped corvette) for heavier anti-fighter work plus anti-cap turbos (think heavy corvette from homeworld).

Rebel medium transport for transport

Nebulon-B frigate for heavy escort, multi-role ship

Rebel Dreadnaught for the same reason as imperial

assault Mark 1 to combat the Venator and Victory's guns.

MC-80a to hold fighters (this class is similar, if smaller, to Home One)

Liberty-class winged cruiser to combat the guns of the ISD.

that should be the unit list. Noone, I truly believe would mind the absense of the SSD.

besides, what are you giving the rebels to combat the Venator? It does seem like a big gap in the firepower of the Rebels.

However, to balance this, the cruiser could be given more fighter capacity and the Rebel fighters could be worth 2 to 3 Ties, eliminating the need for the 80a to be built.

The lancer was the ship I was really hoping for. It is sleek, and great at taking down those pesky starfighters.

Too bad, the Dreadnaught is by far my favorite cap ship in the SW universe. But on the other hand, I'm not against new units at all, since the Dreadnaught was a "new" unit once as well, and it became very popular. We can always mod just about anything we want later.

But Delphi, the more new models you try to squees into the timeline, the harder it gets to justify its existance in the Star Wars world. There are already a myriad of ships on both sides that can be used, and should be used first before any new ships are "invented".

Like I said before, Star Wars require you to have a backstory to everything, down to the fly that landed on Qui-Gons food (there's not actually a backstory there, cause there was no fly, I was merely underlining my point :P So don't go off looking for the info :D )

With a galaxy-wide scale, it makes more sense to have more, rather than less units. It's one of the things I agree with, as long as they don't conflict with established continuity.

sorry, Nevets I screwed up. I meant the Liberator not lancer. I wanted to see the lancer too.

If i interperated the video on the EaW main sight, the correlian corvet also is used to land ground forces.

How did you get that out of that? Not saying it is impossible, but there has not been any video shots of one landing anything in the ground maps.

lol well the Corellian Corvette is useable for landings but its by far better suited to taking on fighters and smaller capital ships.

Are you talking about in game? If so, where has it been stated or shown that a Corellian Corvette is going to be able to land troops in the ground map?
