It almost has to be considering how many different units there are in the game. Otherwise it would be really unstrategic...I also think that they're looking at the HW series as a guidline on how to do space tactics.

Uhh..

RPS (ABR) from an RTS designer means = Rock, Paper, Scissors balance

i thought this was not going to be a rock, paper, scissors balance type game :?

 

i think it is diffrent than a cookie cutter game, he is just saying that for every *ungodly* unit, there is its counterpart, and how you use it to overvome the ships ungodliness, as long as it works out well its great for me

Very much like C&C then, when a tank could really shoot at a soldier for 5 minutes before killing him, and a humvee could take the soldier out in 5 seconds. I guess that makes sense with so many units. I wonder how this will be handled in space. :P

In RTS where units have shields (Battlegrounds: Gungans) they seem to take the same damage with other games. I'm just wondering if the shields would actually do anything if we have them or run across them :roll: Not those metal shields but those forcefield shields that you hold in your hands. Well if no units have shields disregard this comment.

 

Well finally scout units have more then one role :P Well at least for space :roll:

Sorry if I'm being harsh but Beowulf is reminding me of Cheesinator on the LA forums...has very little positive to say.

 

Thats what i'm starting to think also but hes slowly using a positive insults on LEC if you know what I mean to mask it up. Anyways RPS means Rock, Paper, Scissors balance. Ah ok then :P

 

That is a bit harsh, I gave up on Lucasarts a long time ago.... so many noobs and smart but antagonistic like cheeseinator.

 

Not every game is perferct, and we like to harshley scrutinize out favorite games even though we still like them. For me EAW will be a relief over other sci-fi RTS games because of the familiar units and capabilities.

 

and this RPS balance? probably usefull... if they made the game in full detail the Empire would Crush the Rebels 9 times out of 10 or something like that, so a little balance is needed
