Darkmark Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 The concept art seems to suggest that. As did some of their older pictures they had on the previous version of the site. We have only seen the one station so far though, as far as I can tell anyhow. Ghostly_Substance Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 is it just me, or does it look like Space Stations can be upgraded? Your out of the loop yes it was around since Little.B but now newbies can actually see its confirmed. Not saying your a newbie but well ya it can be upgraded -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png
AT-AP Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 uh In the Planet list is says Bestine and isn't that a city on Tatooine? NeutralIts both. Colonists from Bestine formed the Bestine settlement on Tatooine. Jek Porkins is from Bestine, I believe. (Also called Bestine IV.)The planet was even mentioned in an ANH cut-scene. blow up from the cannon on Tatooine it seems like.Rings around that planet. Might be Geonosis. Oh common the AT-ST should be able to kill the anti-tank troopers, thats just bull.Yeah, that looks really ridiculous. One guy taking multiple shots from an AT-ST? Modders, where are you? The Ewoks should be able to attack with spears also.I agree. As well as clubs, arrows (get lucky and hit the body-glove) and catapults. lol in the Tie Crawler video did I see a vortex like thing? That's the shield, I think. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a242/CptK/StarCruiser.jpg
Naja Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Yeah, AT-ST damage would possibly be one of the most easy things to mod. Keep in mind, they're testing the waters with this thing. The Beta isn't even out!! Everything is AWESOME! This is what they should have been doing months ago! But it's alright, better late than never, I suppose. I like how the planets spin in such a 'realistic' way. One thing that concerns me is the graphics...it seems almost sort of hazy, which is inconsistent with the graphics we see in pictures - makes me wonder how clear the game really looks like in person. And I still hope that bodies don't dissapear into the ground like that. I hope that that can be modded.
Ghostly_Substance Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Ya the bodies disappeared like some insects under the ground took them or something I dont mind the graphics as long as it keeps me busy. Yes I know its a shield after pondering about it. Well then the Ewok army looks almost ready just need more weapons and some vehicles and then its ready to be made into a skirmish team. -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png
Zer_Teron Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 The Hypervelocity Cannon looks awsome, probably a giant Gauss Cannon http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3488/zersigef1.jpg
Infinite_Xero Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 To everybody having problems displaying stuff on the new site, use internet explorer or netscapefirefox and opera don't seem to work with it. After watching the videos i have to agree that AT-ST damage VS Infantry is way off. Naja: the graphics looking hazy is probably an after effect, those movies would have been resized and compressed as much as possible to let people with slow connection play themi'm 100% certain the graphics will be crisp and excellent. "Thats Darth Vader! Lets get outta here!" that was great, but its not like he'd be hard to see on the battlefield, big guy, black armour, red lightsaber, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.... mwuhahaha @Gen.Vader, good work oh, @ JMaster3265 putting salt on slugs makes them shrivel up and die, hutts look like/are slugs, get it? The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese!

I've have you now - Lord Vader
Naja Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I still hope that dead soldier bodies on the battlefield can be toggled to stay, and not simply sink into it. I see no point for it, considering that the only unit construction that happens -isn't- on the battlefield. I'm liking this more and more, though. The new footage is compensating for my (still tender) SSD letdown.

Nevets Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 The good: -The canon that shot into space-Manaan and other KOTOR planets The Bad -Bestine, maybe it is a planet, but most star wars fan will refer to the Tat city. They could have picked better planets. - Shola? Don't tell me they made this one up, there are plenty of already established volcanop planets that they did not include, Mustafar, Lok, and that other one everyone mentions. -Severe lack of EPIII planets. No mustafar, no mygeeto, no Utapau, no Polis Massa, no Flucia, no cato neimodia, and that S one. Not even Kamino from Ep II. -No Luke or Leia as heroes. Sure these may not be complete lists, but you would think that these would be heroes that are assumend in, so it wouldn't be like they would need to hide them. Strange.

What purpose would the EPIII planets have over Kaut, Fondor, Thyferra, Mon Calamari(Dac)? Shola isn't made up plus Aeten 2 is a Volcanic Planet. Luke and Leia 15 year olds with guns fighting storrmtroopers? Wierd but i do agree after all kyle katarn is in the rebellion when he should be a imperial right now same with han.

Wierd but i do agree after all kyle katarn is in the rebellion when he should be a imperial right now same with han. EPIII planets are planets a casual fan would know (they would not know much about Kuat and Fondor) and are better selling points since they are from the newest star wars movie and would attract people because of that. Also not saying those planets should be in, but that EPIII planets should be in over some of those obscure planets that even the hardcore star wars fan has a hard time recognizing. I haven't heard of either of them till this game and I know my star wars. You are playing ANH, it would be sad if the two main characters weren't in the game Edit: and oh yea, the rancor is still on Tat, I know for the fact their is no canon that has rancors running wild through the deserts.
Nevets Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Nevets Comments 2.0: -What's the point of having Rancors without their home planet Dathomir? -Why aren't the selkath under species? If you are going to have maanan there needs to be selkaths. -Surprised Chandrila isn't in. It is Mon Monthma's homeplanet. Jek Porkin's Bestine made it in, yet the much more described Chandrila did not? -I have not yet found any references to a star wars planet called Shola. -With the lack of EPIII planets in, it has got me wondering. Could this be a sign that they are making a clone wars expansion? If they were you'd think the logically would want to add the clone wars planets and not put a lot of them in this one. Or EPIII just came out to late to add those planets in.... I think the former, because if they really wanted to (and I am sure LEC would have made them put them in for marketing reasons) they could have got permission to look at these planets long before the film was released, just look at BFII. I was just hoping the expansion was going to be post ANH hope, I wanted it to expanded my game. Not make a completely sperate one (well they could connect the two, but that would be a logistics nightmare).
Darkmark Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I never thought of it that way, but you could well be right Nevets. That lack of Ep3 planets I just figured was LEC not revealling all the planets yet, saving the stuff they would see as good publicity for the run up to the actual release. But yes, now you mention the chance of it being an expansion, it does seem more likely. Guest JediIgor Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 If anyone from Petroglyph is reading this.. the site is very immersive, especially the trailers, with its classic Star Wars music that brings back memories of childhood and makes me feel warm on the inside.. but there is one fatal mistake. Consistent remindment that Star Wars is not real by mentioning the "Star Wars Galaxy" or the "Star Wars History." For crying out loud guys, if we are on the Star Wars: Empire at War website, it's obvious that when you talk about the history/galaxy of something, you're talking about the Star Wars history/galaxy, but do you really have to keep mentioning it? I'll keep bringing up this complaint until someone over there gets smart and removes it, flashing the Star Wars logo at the beginning/end of the trailer is enough..

I would simply say "Can you change history?" or "The battle for the galaxy has begun." There is no need to point out the obvious (that is in fact the narrator is talking about Star Wars). Just think of the LotR games, they never say "The battle for the Lord of the Rings world has begun" now do they?
Nevets Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 also what would you DO?!! sorta gets annoyin after a while Oh wow did that get annoying. They didn't need to put that after everything.
Grey Jedi Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Well I don't know if this is known(I didn't anyway ) but I noticed that in the Darth Vader clip he actually deflects shots from the rebel troopers, much better then the earlier trailer where he took the shots and did nothing.
Darkmark Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I didn't notice him deflecting shots, I just saw them hitting him and him taking the punishment like in other rts games. Then again, the rocket explosions do obscure him when they hit. I think we need a close up of this before I jump to any conclusions. If ones watches the movie closely you can see shots hitting back the rebels troopers and i think the tank as well. Focus on the troopers and you'll see it.
Darkmark Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Ah, I do see it now. Pity Vader doesn't seem to have any animation for deflecting them. As far as I can see they just bounce off. Still, it does look pretty good. Better than him just absorbing all of them.
