Garbageben Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Uh oh. I find that demo question somewhat ominous. Oh well as long as they release one before February I'll be fine. I also found it confusing where Rogue talked about the gameplay options. You would think that the campaign would be the open ended rebellion-like game instead of it being a mission based campaign like in most other games. http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sh/type/0/garbageben.png
Gen.Vader Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 quote In the Star Wars timeline it begins at a few years before the battle of Yavin and ends with the destruction of the first Death Star (or destruction of the Rebel Alliance). and end quote thats just f***** up in my opinion for imps, im never EVER gettin a DS now..... I've have you now - Lord Vader
Darkmark Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Yeah, I agree with you Garbageben. As a statement for a demo, that really doesn't inspire any confidence. Sounds like the kind of statement they would make if they didn't have one planned at all. One thing that brightened my spirits slightly was the fact they say they'd start confirming other heroes very soon. I'd be interested to see if they'd show us some 'minor heroes' so we have an idea of the difference between major and minor ones. The only thing we've got so far to judge where the line is drawn is that Jet Porkins is a major one. Plus I'd very much like to see a screenshot or to of Tarkin in game. That'd cheer up my spirits no end. Siddus Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 All of this is sucks, it's not a good point at all for Empire at War, fans like us gonna be disapointed and new comers gonna say " that's all ? the game FAQ ? " Several weeks to release this ? All of this is already is FAQs on EaW fansites for a long time ! 30 minutes to adapt all of this ? Not a serious work, that'll be my final word.
Nevets Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 So the death star ends it? Dumb, imps just aren't going to build it, they said u needed resources, why waste your time on it then. I don't like the story driven part either, to restrictive, I want freedom, not a path. Sounds kind of like BFII: the RTS.
DarthMaulUK Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Mutterings around my contacts are that the demo is a little behind. But I think they are just trying to decide if they can add multiplayer or not. All we can hope for is a massive update on information - even Battlefront 2 had better news releases in its build up. Zer_Teron Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 with the destruction of the first Death Star *Rips hair out* Hope the modding teams change that http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3488/zersigef1.jpg
Nevets Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 The way I am thinking is, part of the imperial story will be about collecting parts for the Death Star. Building the DS should be an option not a requirement
The Relentless Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 The campaign end with either the destruction of the DS or Yavin IV. The Imperials will most likely have the DS already built in the campaign. The scenario mode will let you conquer all of the planets the way you want, that doesn't have to end like ANH. Go Leafs go!
The Relentless Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 That's right, this is a double post. Go Leafs go!
BigInc Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I totally agree, if you don't want to follow the campagin just play Scenarios or skirmish mode where you just try to conquer the whole galaxy or battle at once particluar point! Again, really this info that is released has nothing new! w00t everything is still as I expected! BigInc
Megajames Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Notice how they are saying info may be realeshed soon Evacuate, in our moment of triumph. I think you overestimate their chances. Eduardo Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Hmmmm, there's something they haven't said, is that if we can view our planets and place the buildings, (I'm refering to entering the planet and view from inside, I mean, from the ground), that has me most worried, Cause I want to view my planet and place my troops in the order i desire, and place my buildings, shield generators, barracks, turrets, etc... School Wars!!! Command your Forces! Crush the School!!!

In one of the video interviews, i think i heard that they were working on prebuilt bases, that way you can choose a layout you want and have it built, w/o having to micromanage the base construction. (but i not 100% sure)
Wiking_pff Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 • Campaign: The single player campaign is a story driven campaign where you choose to play as either the Rebel Alliance or the Empire. You can choose to play either as the Rebel Alliance or the Empire and go through a campaign of 24 core story missions (12 each) that guide you and your heroes through your conquest to either bring freedom or total Imperial rule to the entire galaxy. Uh, why was I under the impression that the campaign allowed more freedom than this?
Garbageben Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 What we call a non-linear campaign, they have chosen to call the scenarios. I found that a bit strange as well. The open ended portion is the actual campaign, whereas the scenarios, or set up conflicts, should be the traditional RTS campaign seen in most other games. http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sh/type/0/garbageben.png
The Relentless Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Yes, they are. Scenarios sound even more fun than the campaign at the moment. Go Leafs go!
Ghostly_Substance Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 So then we have: CampaignSkirmishSceneriosMultiplayeroptions Or Camapaing - SceneriosSkirmishesmultiplayeroptions -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png
Garbageben Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 The first one Ghostly. Campaign - scripted map by map skirmishes up to Yavin I'm guessing Skirmish - self-explanatory Scenarios - Like Rebellion. You set the initial conditions and then try to conquer the galaxy MP - Can do Scenarios or Skirmish My Question: Do you think that stealing the xwing plans are a part of the Rebel Campaign and you automatically start with the xwing in the scenario gameplay mode (Rebellion-like gameplay)? http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sh/type/0/garbageben.png
Wiking_pff Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Okay I get it. Weird naming scenarios Campaign and the campaign as Scenarios though.
Phantom_pff Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 My Question: Do you think that stealing the xwing plans are a part of the Rebel Campaign and you automatically start with the xwing in the scenario gameplay mode (Rebellion-like gameplay)?Ive said it before, and it has been said before, one of the main starting missions it the rebels stealing the prototype

Anyway I was talking with Swiftdraw and he said that most likely you will "research" the xwing. I just can't see them making you steal (or preventing the stealing of) the xwing plans at the beginning of every scenario. http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sh/type/0/garbageben.png
