Well boys and girls, the next generation of rabid fanboy-isms and console icons smashing each other has begun!

In this-a corna we've the wanna-be PC, the monster from Microsoft, the all-american console, the challanger, the X-BOX THREEEEEEEE SIXTAAAAY!!!!

And in this-a corna we've the beast from the east, emperor console from the land of the rising sun, from the champin' company of the last gen wars, the enigmatic yet powerful PLAAAAAYSTATIONNNN THREEEEE!!!!!

And watching from outside the ring is the Nintendo Revolution.

Touch gloves!!! And.... Debate!!!

*Note: I know the most information about the X-box 360 atm, so that entry will be dis-proportanatly large. It doesn't mean I'm all for the 360, but that I know more about it.

X-360: No, I'm never going to touch upon the 180, becuase frankly, it is a waste of money. Save up another $100 and just get the out-of-the-box HD compatible, wireless controller, and hard-drive built in 360. The launch games I can't comment on due to the fact I care not for any of them. Ok, maybe I've high hopes for Gears of War and Kameo looked intresting but not really. Honestly, Perfect Dark Zero will be bugged out, Condemed look good for the action and graphics but everything else screams "MEDIOCRE!!!!!" The rest of the games are so "blah" I haven't even bothered to track them. Oblivon will be on PC so that will be duely ignored by me when it comes out for the 360, and DoA 4 didn't make launch so no worries there (but the jiggly chests *drools*.... I need to get out more.) But outside of the initial release, some things are shaping up to look oh so sexy!!! Games if note, Chrome Hounds (un-abashed, gloriuos mech combat!!!) and Gears of War (looking very sexy indeed, though I hate console FPSs.) BUT NONE OF THOSE GAMES MATTER!!!! Indeed, for Live! Arcade is by far the most awesome console application which will induce retina ejecting! I don't care what you say, but Smash TV, Joust, and a bunch of oldie games with online capability has me more excited and giggly than a 14 year old school girl at a popular boy band concert! Yes I even managed the high octave squeal they manage when a couple of those games were announce for Live! Arcade. I would buy this console just for that, but there are two problems *bum bum bummmmm* 1) Good luck on getting a 360 this year. 2) You need a broadband connection to connect to Live! and un-fortantly I live in the middle of nowhere and my satilite doesn't cut it. *Insert crying here*

Playstation 3: What do I know about the PS3? Good question. I know that Sony has been f'ing up the last month and PS2 owners are 50% less likely to purchase a PS3 than a 360. I know also the majority of casual gamers are taking a "wait and see" approach before buying and X-box 360 or PS3, including yours truely. I know that Sony will not have standardized online support (which goes under Sony f'ing up.) I know that the the PS3 will be Blu-Ray compatable. I know that the PS3 could potentially have be the most powerful console of this generation. And finally, I know that the PS3 will not be released untill at least next year! So I'm going to sit back and watch this one before making a final judgement. Sony has shown it's wile in the past and I'm not one to count them out quite yet. No, I'm not commenting on speculation on the possible controller, lack of announced games or any of the other little f'ups that I may of may not have forgotten.

Nintendo: HD support? Nope. Booooooo!!!! Being developed as a second console for the X-box 360 or PS3? Yup, good marketing hopefully. Supports a centralized online service? Yup, and about time too. Smash Bros. 3.... YAAAAAAAAYYYYY! Ablility to download a lot of Nintendo's games from NES to Gamecube!?!?!?! *screams like a 13 year old fan-girl and faints* This, boys and girls, is the console I'm most definitly going to get. A) It will be the cheapest on the market, the big N has promised that and I'm going to hold them to it considering what they've cut. B) The downloadable Nintendo library.... If Stunt FX is availble... *faints*

Edit to all end all edits: I'm tired for it is 10 pm. I screw up when I'm tired... Do the math. I put a poll. Good knight.

I voted for none, not because I hate consoles. Just that I usually play RTS games and the best platform for RTS's is the pc. Not to mention I browse the web and can write my college essays on a pc. So I use the PC because it is most useful to me. (Not to mention I am poor :( )

Revolution.

It is really the only system that is trying anything new, the others are pretty much a bit better graphics and a shiny new box. Oh am I forgetting the shiny new price tags as well?

Revolution is bound to be cheapest.

The others I am waiting to see what they have in store and the price to drop.

RE-VO-Lution...

I started with Nintendo. I sure as hell ain't going to stop now. Just imagine the potential for a revolution Zelda... and I can dl all the oldies...

Yeah. This will be the most likely one I'll buy. Having said that I'm more a PC person now. Oh the shame.

I probably wont get the others. Not that the others are bad, they just aren't my consoles.

I'd like o clarify something on the PS3. When I mean lack of games, I mean a lack of games at launch. Right now, out of the 107 games announced, only King Kong has been confirmed for launch. That is all.

Oh, and I'm going for the Revolution and 360. The downloadable games are just too sex-eh.

okay

i only have room for 1 console in my house so it is a tie between nintendo and PS3

i wont get 360 for one reason, the hiked up prices (up to 60 bucks a game i hear!) and i have to shell another 100 bucks for STANDARD BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY! cmon, the PS2 had it why shouldnt the 360?

but it al boils down to 2 things to break my tie

is backwards compatibility available? if it is, i will get the one that does have it, if both, o well

and lastly, the kind of games. if the downloadable (free??)library of old NES classics, then im definately gettin it, id like playing the metroid/mario/and zelda on revolution, but i like FF and MGS for PS3 so im taking a watch and see method

and btw, i voted PS3, because it is the one that im leaning ot at the moment

I don't think the downloads of old games for the revolution are free, but I'm willing to bet they'll be quite cheap. Think of it more like downloading music (the paying legal way, not the dodgy way).

Last I heard the nintendo made games (Mario, Zelda...) would be free. 3rd party games (Lucasarts) would set their own prices but are expected to be cheap. It has also been said 3rd party makers can also use games as promotional items, like get the new Rouge Squadron game and get all past LA nintendo games free.

PS3, from what I read, won't be totally backwards capatible either, if at all. Of course rumors are flying around that it still will be fully compatable, but everything I've read points it following the 360's lead and only making the most popular games compatable. No word if the games will be modified to play in HD like the 360 games. Also expect the PS3's games to be in the $60 range also. Though not much has been released on the all of the PS3's functions, people seem to think (based of the PSP and recent leanings and talk of Sony) the PS3 will be far more of a multi-media thing than the other two competitors. What affects this may have on pricing is un-know, but it is thought the PS3 will be $399.99, like the 360. Some speculation has it at $499.99, but I think Sony will price it at the $399 mark to keep competitive.

I'm not expecting any downloadable games to be free and I know the 360's downloads are not free. But I'm willing to bet the Nintendo games will be cheaper than new games.

Eh yea, just read they are thinking about have a subscription thing for it. I was going by what I last heard a couple months ago. I also just read that Sega is thinking about jumping on board and putting its old games on it as well, that would be interesting.

Edit: but it still said some games would be free, it also said many games would be "enhanced" graphics wise. Hellooooo Goldenye.

I'm gonna have to go with the Revolution. I don't like how early the Xbo360 is coming, not to mention the fact that it's predecessor's games didn't impress me too much. PS2 is quite good, but Gamecube... That's in another league. I actually owned both the PS2 and Gamecube, so don't call me a fanboy for that. I've always liked Nintendo's games. And, when I look at what Revolution has to offer (New controller, downloadable games, better graphics that GC, net play, METROID PRIME 3 OMGOMGOMG) I see I have no real choice at all, Revolution all the way!

New development with the 360. The 20gig hard drive is turning out to be in-sufficient. A few poeple, between downloading games and ripping music to the 360's track list, have already run out of space on the hard-drive. It is thought the hard drive is simply a laptop hard drive and attempts are being made to allow a 120 gig to be ooked up to the 360. Un-fortantly there seems to be a software lock-out that prevents any new hardware from being recognized, but I give that a week before it's broken. Now I wonder if Nintendo is going to take note of this and allow a larger hard drive (or what ever storage system they'll use) and/or detachable memory sticks/cards.

I've been really confused by those lately. They have separate flash memory for the oldie donwloadie (please dont beat me up for that) games, right? And GC's memory cards only work for the GC games you play using Revolution, right? Are they going for a hard-drive of separate memory cards? How much space? I recall the normal GC cards being extremely small, I was forced to buy one of those big ones.

Short answer: I dunno... I know PSOne mem cards didn't exactly work for PS2 so... I'm going to look that up.

And don't worry about me beating you up, I hate winters here in Michigan, so I don't think my mind could handle a winter in Finland. No travel north of this latitude for me thank you. Blah... Its snowing right now and suppose to have bizzard conditions tommorow.... I want to move back to North Carolina.

Well Swiftie, actually you wouldn't have to worry about getting cold in here right now, we haven't had an autumn this warm for over fifty years. I mean, it's zero degrees celsius over here and not a trace of snow. And yeah, we all hate it. :x Christmas is like the uber-holidays here, 'cause you know, Santa Claus comes from here and all that, but if we don't get snow soon, Christmas will be ruined! Damn this world with it's unpredictable weather glitches!

Anyways, information about the Revolution has been nigh, and as it seems, we're gonna have to wait for all of it until E3 next year. That might not be too smart from Nintendo.

I'm getting a DS soon, it hooks up with the Revolution, too. But the PSP-PS3 hook-up sounds just fantastic. I'm also thinking of buying the PS3 once it's price gets hammered. I think it's very realistic to think that PS3's price will drop at around 200 euros one day, since Sony has promised that PS3 will be their flagship for the next 10 years. Hang on MGS4, I'mma comin'.
