Hutton Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Does anyone have any ideas on how change which characters are present at the start of the game and whether or not their location is random? (useing the slots for starting characters has occured to me, but isn't sufficient).
SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted May 27, 2003 SWR Staff - Executive Posted May 27, 2003 Past the main characters, it is random. Tne number of additional characters is based on the size of the galaxy. Jahled Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Where they start is an interesting concept, and by no means random at all, I think. For example, Veers always seems to start on a system where the Empire needs a General badly, and Piett seems to start on a system badly needing some Imperial diplomacy.... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Hutton Posted May 27, 2003 Author Posted May 27, 2003 Past the main characters, it is random. Tne number of additional characters is based on the size of the galaxy. By main, I assume you mean major, but characters like Dodonna and Willard are not major and always start on Yavin. Has anyone figured out what special designation they have, or tell me what .dll i should look into if I want to experiment?
Trejiuvanat Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 I think that's hardcoded.. the only thing i can think of are the slots of the starting chars.. dodonna, chewie, antilles, piett, veers, needa, ozzel, jerjerrod. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
The_Hag Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 I think it's the slot order too. I swapped Ozz with Jabba and I start with Jabba every time now.
dude21 Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Maybe thats also possible with the ships at the beginning? "I am growing stronger with the Force"
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 I believe that can be confirmed. However, changing the ships really isn't much use. If want a specific ship in the beginning, just make the research 0. History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
dude21 Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 I believe that can be confirmed. However, changing the ships really isn't much use. If want a specific ship in the beginning, just make the research 0. I tryed it and it didnt work so "I am growing stronger with the Force"
Tsunami Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 It's just like characters: Certain slots are flagged for starting ships to be taken from them. Numbers are related to the whole maintainance isssue, placement is highly random except for Judicator (Coruscant) and with a greater chance that imperial ships start at planets with low loyalty. I do not really know about character placement except for the obvious things (Yavin, HQ ect.) The rebel HQ gets at least two ships, one of which is a transport (or rather from the slot used for the Medium Transport in classic Rebellion). It's all hopeless but otherwise not very dramatic. - Helme Haffax Englishman: "What do you think of Modern Civilization?"Mahatma Gandhi: "That would be a good idea."
dude21 Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 What slots do u mean and hows that with the ISD on coruscant managed? "I am growing stronger with the Force"
Trejiuvanat Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 The Empire always starts with at least an ISD around Coruscant. The slots of the starting ships for the imps are:ISDVSDGalleonCarrackDread For the Rebs:MEdium TrasnportCorellian CorvetteBulk CruiserAlliance Escort Carrier http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
dude21 Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 Yes but all ships are randomly expect the ISD on coruscant. WHY? "I am growing stronger with the Force"
Tsunami Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 Clouded everything is. The Dark side, I suspect. That's just the way it is. Except for the HQ and Coruscant, ships are random. It's th code. Or the Force. It's all hopeless but otherwise not very dramatic. - Helme Haffax Englishman: "What do you think of Modern Civilization?"Mahatma Gandhi: "That would be a good idea."
dude21 Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 hmm I believe its the source-code but perhaps.... "I am growing stronger with the Force"
