Teradyn_pff Posted November 21, 2005 Share Posted November 21, 2005 Been watching the post quality drop dramatically since the first developer chat announcement brought in new people. I have to say, I am quite dissapointed. I enjoyed what felt like a bit more mature forum atmosphere than what is available on the LEC forum circus, but that seems to be going down the drain as of late. It has alot to do with the people coming over from those forums, but it also has to do with the lack of useful information about EAW. I had my hopes up quite a bit for the developer chat, but they were quickly dashed. Not much solid info came out of that chat, and some of the questions that were allowed through were simply unforgivable given the limited time available for the chat. Another issue is the list of questions that we had sent in. They have been out for more than a month now, and no telling if they will even be answered in a useful manner or even returned at this point. Too much about the game is hush hush this close to the release too. I can recall many different games that had full tech trees and/or unit lists available on their websites before the game was out. And it is very dodgy that we had to find out on the forums the correct information about the true timeline of this game at a time after the original launch date! Anyway, I am taking my leave of these forums for a while. I haven't had much desire to post on most of the current topics anyway, so have been lurking for the past week or so. I am sure a few of the older members know what I am talking about in the section above. Hopefully something will show up on the Petroglyph web site or the one at LEC. Given the lack of info at these places, I probably won't be doing anything but checking every once in a while to see if the demo has been released. Anyway, I am curious if anyone else feels the same way about the info being release (or not being released by Petroglyph/Lucas Arts). Be sure to post why you voted the way you did. At this point everything that can be discussed has been discussed, now it is just new people coming and talking about the same thing but lower quality. The information trickle for this game is miserable compared to what I am use to even for an LEC game. On top of that, the info we do get is sometimes wrong and misleading. and I would have to go with both the 2nd and 3rd option. With the Release date only a few months away we still don't have a full unit list, Planet list, Hero List...... There is a massive Hole in the community at the moment. Nevets Posted November 21, 2005 Share Posted November 21, 2005 They seem to hardly acnolage that the games exsistes, there to interested in battlefrount II exactly, they were fully devoted to bf2 before it came out and paid little attention to EAW, you would think that after BF2 was released they would pay a little more attention to EAW, but so far it doesn't look like it. What's wrong with say, a Feature Friday, or whatever they called it on SW:Galaxies? Release a tiny bit of info each Friday up until release. Once in a while profile a unit, talk about strategy/technical info, things like that. Would keep the community busy for a while, without drying up the subjects completely. It's been, what, three months since we've had new screenshots? It is surprising however to see them still not giving out more information (unit lists etc.) even three weeks after the release of BF2. Well, I'm very curious about the game too and i also collect every singe info about it but with the release far far away i have to be patient and have to keep myself busy to avoid me thinking of the game... Profiles of units and heroes would be nice, but if you are pressed for time the feature could always be a couple screenshots, something is better than nothing. Eduardo Posted November 21, 2005 Share Posted November 21, 2005 Well, they might be concentrated in BF2 now because it's the sequel to the best selling star wars, but the could also make info for EaW, they are to many, they could devide in one group for BF2, and another for a little info for EaW, in BF2, every 15 dais there was new info, even if it was small, it was!, here, like 2 months wi don't have new info(Excluding the trailer), really, if it wasn't for Delphi, who revealed some features.....but he rarely presents now. With EAW they need to do advertising and more info to be released and plus they have their own advertising department, meaning their PR people are just setting on their asses pretty much. Give it the one chance it needs to disavow the cruddy 'Star Wars milk maid' reputation it has gotten from all of its usually-inferior quality Star Wars games, and create a potential LANDMARK in gaming history with an equal potential for a 5 year+ fanbase like Diablo or Starcraft...and they shit all over it. This is someing I have seen sence I became a Star wars fan. The last good game I played was X-wing Alliance. Its not that bad, much better than the original, graphics aren't great, but doesn't matter still pretty fun to play, it has kept my interest longer than most games. LEC said about a month ago that from now on it will only produce about 2 games a year from now on so that they can focus just on them and make better quality games. Let's hope EAW is one of these. Yea but they weren't bad enough to ruin a game, just not as high as some games have been recently. Yea, they pushed the date back, but will it be enough? just from the slow info leak we know the game isn't what we first thought it was going to be. BigInc Posted November 21, 2005 Share Posted November 21, 2005 Well, I can see how SWBF2 was somewhat fun! You have to try and rationalize yourself for buying the game ... I mean be realistic, I have bought and played Far Cry, Half Life 2, F.E.A.R, just to mention and few, and the graphics are 10 times better! Just face it they took the xbox version (733 Pentium, 64 Meg G-Force 2) and copied it to PC. They didnt' buff up the graphics one bit! If I wanted to play something that crappy I would install Solider of Fortune or something from the late 1990's. Also, the figther controls were horrible! I could really go on for hours!!!
