Are you yelling at me?

No, I don't think this mod will have a dedicated server, and I'll tell you why.

A dedicated server is good for Skirmish games, but this mod is not designed with skirmish gaming in mind. I may eventually make a number of maps for skirmishing, but since this is a realism mod... DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT TAKES TO BUILD AN ISD IN REAL TIME! I'm talking YEARS!

This mod will be meant primarily for 1 vs. 1 Galactic Conquest games where most of the time games are prearranged and connected by direct IP instead of through a server. I'll have a time compression factor for the relative speeds of both side's build and travel times in Galactic Conquest. Probably on the order of 1 second will equal 1 hour. Which means that building Starships will take a long time. 1 game year will end up equalling about 2 hours twenty-six minutes in the Strategic mode.

While this mod will probably be primarily 1 v 1 multiplayer in nature I'd expect it to be used as a game between known friends that play with each other regularly. It could well take weeks of playing before someone triumphs over another if they know what they're doing.

I got no friends who play Star Wars and pc games, aragged games never work out,and its gonna be the same with my tournament, and no i wasn't yelling at you.

How about people on the forum... You just give them your IP or you could give them your username on gaming sites and use that to link up.

But how can you be sure there is gonna be a direct ip option? These days games now just depend on servers.

One more question why are you putting capital ships, vehicles, and other big units in groups of 3? Just put infrantry and fighters in sqauds.

Well, Capital ships (With the possible exception of corvettes) will be in groups of one. If we can increase the Pop Cap to what would be a realistic number, However, when it comes to ground units there is a rational behind the number of units in each formation. It's the way units really are organized.

In our Military today...

1 Platoon of Armored Vehicles = 4-5 Vehicles.

1 Company of Armored Vehicles = 20-25 Vehicles.

In Star Wars...

1 Platoon of AT-STs = 4 AT-STs

1 Motorized Stormtrooper Company (Mounted in AT-ATs) = 4 AT-ATs (Because each AT-AT can carry a platoon of Stormtroopers)

Also I don't think you'd want to spend 6 Game Months training a single AT-AT or AT-ST, you'd want to get more units out of that amount of time training them.

I dont know if its possible and tell me if this is a dumb idea but i think it would be awsome if it was like ages of empires where you start out as the clones or sepertists and in the clones case they slowy advance tech until they reach the galatic empire level and keep improving and for the sepertists they turn into the rebels i know this is a little off topic and has alot of wishful thinking but u think its possible to change the game this much :?:

Yeah, you could do that... But this mod won't. We will have some similar triggers however, among them being that the Rebel Alliance's capture of Coruscant will enable it to advance from the Rebel Alliance and Become the New Republic. This only brings about modest changes (Among them the ability to establish a new corporation Republic Engineering).

Seperatist and Clone Technology will still be available, but rebuilding the Droid Armies will be a long and difficult path to take.

Yes, but you have to remember most of thsi game is going to be planetary invasions and that means large forces... very large forces. An Imperator Class Star Destroyer could deliver a whole division of troops in a ground assault.

This is what this force would be if broken down into its component units:

5 Mechanized Infantry Companies (20 AT-ATs)

1 Armored Combat Company (25 AT-STs)

1 Armored Command Compnay (5 AT-STs)

Approxametly 70-80 Infantry Companies

Most of what you see in literature is the small scale engagements, a raid with a single Mechanized Infantry Company + Support (The raid on Karrde's Myrkr Base), a single Mechanized Infantry Platoon (The Juggernaught on Blackmoon). What is rarely shown is the full scale battle, and for those you have to look at Dark Empire where they show the continual fighting over coruscant just to get a glimpse of the scale I'm talking about.

You will be able to obtain much smaller units then companies and platoons. Rebel Infiltraitors will only be purchasable in small teams, and they won't be the only ones. Command teams are small groups of troops or mounted vehicles, as are commandos and other formations, their roles however are much more along the lines of heroes. They increase the abilities of those around them and have good special abilities, beyond that they're not nearly as useful.
