Ion cannon's How will it Work?

Ion cannons are used to knock out systems, rather than destroy ships.

 

Ok Yeah Ion cannons are used to disabling vehicles and electronics

so if a ship is disabled and needs to be Captured What will happen if enemy

Faction sends small fighters to destory the ship which was disabled by the

Ion cannon and if a enemy spaceship is disabled dont you need a Trooper

capturing Assault ship? to Capture enemy disabled ships?

What do you think about this?

I thinbk that the Ion Cannon will be more of a unit like in rebellion that if you have units on planet you want to get away from a blockade the ion cannon takes out the ship for a short time allowing you to escape.

I think it will be a deadly wepon in space combat, it will disable the shilds on enermy ships leaving them very varnerable.

Ion cannons will be very powerful weapons. As seen in ESB the ion cannon took out a SD. No, I'm not saying the SD was destroyed, but it left it pretty much dead in space. A ship that is dead in space will eventually be drawn by the planet's gravity and burn in the atmosphere. Since that's not in EaW (gravity of planets: at least I don't think so) it'll probably just disable the ship and make it an easy kill.

It would be so cool if a SD spashed down outside your base.

Well yeah. After they had rewired and done some repairs because of the effects of the ion blast they caught. I was just saying for the purposes of battle that if your side won and you had disabled a couple cruisers then they would be easy kills. After a while the crews would be able to repair their ships and join combat again.

I think it will be a planetary defense system, simple as that. Ships arrive in your sector, your defending from space and your ion cannons are backing you up.

If you are the rebels you could disable a ship with ion cannons but not destroy it since all large fleet could drop out at any secound.

lol, you get all your ground forces, and your base, but oh no! the rebels have surrounded you and have destroyed all but 1 troop carrier!

 

suddenly, the sun gets blocked out of the sky and a huge place object of death crashes, crushing alll your oppossiton!
