The Build Queue

I was brainstorming about my own personal modification when I hit a snag. The question that hit me was about build times, build production, and unit size. If we can only build one unit at a time on a planet it would be better to have larger units then if we can build multiple units at the same time.

 

So my question is...

 

How many units can a planet build at a time? One or more.

 

EDIT:

 

I just watched the Liepzig Convention video, it looks like at least in Skirmish mode you can build about 5 units simultaneous.

good question, because from the gqmes ive played the galactic map or any kind of outside look from the gameplay where u build etc use turn base or some sort of similiar thing to make it easier for building etc, with it real time, its gonna be diff and weird hmmm.

This is a very good questions, however, I think that it will matter on how many space stations you have! For example, if you have three, all at different planets you'll then be able to build three at a time. I would assume the planets will operate in the same manner. If you have more than one factory (fatory = example) you would then be able to build 1 unit at each factory. Its not rocket science. I've never played a RTS that does not use this formula.

Maybe 5 infantry types then 5 mech types. 5 Ship types and 5 fighter types at a time. I'm assuming I saw 5 slots for production and since galaxy map is real time it could work.

Some units simply come with other units once they are constructed, too. Think the Chinese APC in Generals - it came with 8 Red Guards.

 

Star Destroyers will have TIE Fighters automatically built in.

 

AT-ATs, I'm assuming, will also come with a squad of Stormtroopers.

i think that the build que will be like what ghostly said, 5 units of each type are allowed at a time, but i think that if you click the build stormtrooper button, or build xwing button, when it si finished there should be like 5 stormies or xwings, they did a similart thing in RON but it was 3 per click or so

But it should be each building that has a que, not the whole planet.

Evacuate, in our moment of triumph. I think you overestimate their chances. :)

I personally agree that it should be that way, but I anticipate it won't be. It's just not in the style of the guys that made C&C.

It should be the amount your building can create. A shipyard can't make 20 Star Destroyers at a time. But if you had multiple shipyards, it is a different story. Same should apply on ground. You should be able to build more than one unit at a time, to an extent

thanks Delphi and this system should work well to minimize the massed fleets some people (like me) who build giant fleets in seconds and then obliterate the enemy it makes things fairer.

Make your own mod with that feature. We would appreciate that.

 

 

UI is hard coded, no way to mod it unless you have some C++ coders on hand and can extract this data.

 

I'm guessing you guys still don't understand what I'm saying. I'll wait until more videos are posted.
