What happens when you are atacked?

Are you warned with a message, and get some time in the galactic map to sent some fleets for reinforcement's or is it instant? If it is instent then it will be very hard to be organised when your attacked.

Evacuate, in our moment of triumph. I think you overestimate their chances. :)

I imagine it jumps right to it. And I think that is the point of an attack, you aren't suppose to be ready and orgainized, just hope that your spying paid off and know what is potentially coming at you so you can prepare.

Maybe there will be a preconflict overview that shows what ships each side has and how many of each type of fighter each side has. It would make it more realistic than having to go into the battle not knowing what you're facing. In SW ships were identified almost as soon as they jumped out of hyperspace. Plus if the battle looked lopsided in your favor you could instead choose to "auto-resolve" instead of wasting 10 minutes decimating an enemy fleet.

Wast ten minutes waching star destroyers breakup, X-wings vape tie after tie, and then blowing up the planet with the death star, there is allmost no way I will ever auto-resolve.

Edit:Updated the grammar don't worry.

No, auto resolve just finishes the battle and tells you if you won or lost, you don't have to watch it.

I wouldn't mind my "auto-resolve" not being resolved instantly though, maybe a couple we could see on the galaxy map two fleets fighting until a few minutes later one of them comes out victorious.

I agree, if I had to auto-resolve, I would like to still see the highlights of the battle.

w00t ever! Who would just want to play this game from the galaticmap and not battle!!! From my understanding the battles should be pretty fast paced. Auto-resolve blah! Lets make the game boring!! Oh and while were at it lets add auto manage to all the planets! YAH!!! BORING!!! They are trying to make a fun game here, not something I put on my shelf and leave there to collect dust!

I agree, auto-resolve shall hardly be used.

Auto resolve was extremely useful in rebellion for one simple reason. Imperial Stardestroyer vs Rebel transporter. No one wanted to load up the battle map, so auto resolve saved some time and theres no way there would be combat.

Once the game went on in time (days in game,) and fleets became larger, there was no real need for it after that.

Auto resolve won't show the highlights! Just hope that the computer doesn't kill your heroes or something. That's one of the reasons heroes can come back.

So you got a fleet of 6 ISDs and you go up against 1 rebel transport, why would you bother with the time it takes to load the battle and the time it takes to load the galaxy map back..?

We don't know how the pace of a battle is. So there may be no need for auto resolve. I just don't see the battles taken so long that you will auto resolve. Finishing your enemy is like a victory lap, it just something that needs to be done.

Auto resolve is not good for a persistent game. Because all those remanding forces can cause damage to your forces. Also your enemy can retreat. So every battle might not be to the last man, but to as many as you can take out.

I know I don't have to use it, but they would have to spend time on formulating each units effect. It's better just to take the time to finish your enemy off. It won't be that much of a hassle to finish them in EaW, I think.

Most likey the enemy will retreat if they are losing, or maybe scatter so you don't need to finish them all off. The units will surrender, disband, and/or desert.

I must not fear

Fear is the mind-killer

Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration

I will face my fear

I will permit it to pass over me and through me

And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path

Where the fear has gone there will be nothing

Only I will remain

I wonder how long you get in galatic map befor you are atacked, iI would hate to have to wait for ages, but if you have not time in galactic map then nothing will ever get done.

Time spent on the galaxy map could take mere seconds before another attack is launched at you, or it could take minutes to hours. It's a guessing game, "Where will the enemy strike next, and when? And with what?"

If it takes hours though before you see any sort of combat, you clearly are a defensive player. :P

I would never trust the auto-resolve! I have used it on some games like Rome: Total War and I "believe" that one time I had 1000 more troops than the other side and was in my own castle and hit auto resolve and LOST!!! What the heck I thought.. I had enough archers they could of never reached my walls, let alone the rain of fire they sent with them? Who the? What the? From this day forward I refuse to ever use AUTO-RESOLVE!! AGAIN <-EVIL

Lets not turn this into stupidity, if a player sends a transport unguarded, they must be silly. So, lets talk about a transport situation and get it over with!! If you did engage a transport should only take 2 minutes max to take out if that! It would be Extreme Fun to lay waste to the ships. This situation reminds me of when I run into a lower level Orc in World of Warcraft!! Let the Slaughter begin!! MUHAHAHA!! Die Orc

Stay on Target!!

Impossible.

Noone is going to be able to gather enough forces to attack every 10 minutes. Maybe at the very end of the game perhaps (when the opposition only has a few planets under his/her control left), but not in the middle, and certaintly not in the beginning.

Spread out your forces too thin too quickly, and you will lose.

I would guess if you can speed up the combat then you can also speed up the Galactic map, but would you really want to speed up the galactic map? you can't pause in the galactic map, so you would want all the time you can get to plan your movements and see your enemies movements, and also to decide what to build, and where to send it.

If you've ever played Rebellion you'd know speeding up the galactic map is invaluable in the early part of the game when there is almost nothing to do. Because once you give out all the orders and such it's just you waiting for them to be carried out.

I hated slowly watching the loading bar of how long until my 5/100 troop was built with nothing to do, that happened all the time on games like EE/EE2, SWGB, AoE 1/2/3.

The 47 min. video showed the Galactic map and time going incrediably fast. Maybe you can do that in the game as well....
